When will this heat wave end?

It has been boiling for the past several days. We're supposed to get rain, but it keeps getting pushed back. We really need it though, because the heat index is real high. Humidity is through the roof. And I feel like I took a bath in sweat. Chilly spent a hour or so in the living room, and after sneaking out into the garage (when I came home) he's back in the bedroom now. Hopefully he stays there.

I hope you get relief. I may have to turn on the furnace here. Wish I could share. Going to start by using the oven, maybe that will be enough heat.

@kaylachan it will keep me warm while in the kitchen. May have to use the gas fire place in the living room when we want to relax.

@paigea Well, heating one room at a time probably isn't a bad thing.

It's hot in Michigan too although here the temps go up and down each week with a couple of days in the nineties and one in the seventies and the rest in between before going up or down again We deal with humidity here too although the heat index only made it to 100 once so far. I tend to run cooler than most people but my husband sweats a lot in this weather.

@MarshaMusselman I guess I am thankful that we have central AC as a common thing here. It's much needed. I live on the coast, less than two miles from the beach. You would think it'd be a tad cooler (and normally it is) but this heatwave seems to be messing a lot of us up. Yet, Canada seems to still be quite cold.

@kaylachan the great lakes might be keeping us a tad cooler than down in Florida. We used to have the nineties only in August or maybe late July when I was growing up and only for a few days to a week. But the last few years we've had it earlier and earlier. A few years ago we had three weeks straight off ninety degree weather with high humidity and we don't all have a/c.

You know when it rains again it’s going to get even more humid afterward? It would temporarily cool down. We had a bunch of rain or at least over casted skies but man the days after it gets hot gross here.

Yes I know. And we're supposed to get rain all week. So, I'm not complaining to much about that. Any relief will be welcome because the ground is so dry.

@ShyBear88 I am used to and come to expect temps like that in August, or even September. But June is usually a lot more bearable. So, I know what you mean. At least it's been raining here.

@kaylachan been through heat waves and droughts they can go some for a while. Last summer we had one at the end of summer before the kids started school. It was 2 weeks and the temp with humidity was at least what felt like 110

My kittens are fast asleep but they got a bit upset when they heard the thunder rumbling, Now I see the rain and it is almost as dark as evening but still early and I am waiting to see what will happen. I don't know if the storm will just pass or come in full force,

@RubyHawk Yeah. We're in our rainy season so this heatwave is unusual. Rain usually keeps things tolerable.

Your body is cooling itself. When that kind of boiling temperature, the AC is working hard.

Yeah I know. And we have the electric bills to prove it.

@Nakitakona Yes. I'm already cringing. The rain in recent days has helped with that.

I'm so glad that our humidity is only about 3% when we get those triple digits, I couldn't stand the kind of humidity I've read about that gets up to 95% or more.

I could take dry heat, but I live in Florida so that's never going to happen.

Heere in my part of Northern California it is 81° and mostly sunny, according to my computer. That is warm, but better than 91°!

I don't think a lot of people like it, either. I know that I was boiling by the time I got home.
