Son1 is home on leave this week and didn't want to just sit around the house, so we planned a camping trip to Williamsburg, Virginia. The first night after arriving, which was Tuesday, Son1, K, and I went for a guided Ghost Walk through Colonial Williamsburg. The photo on the left is of the Governor's Palace at night. The ghost stories were rather tame, but the guides did a great job of explaining the real history behind the stories. On Wednesday, K had to work remotely from the camper. Son1 and I spent the day at Busch Gardens. The photo on the right is of parts of 2 of the roller coasters in the park. We both rode the yellow one - The Loch Ness Monster. Son1 rode the other - The Griffin. We were both going to ride The Griffin but I was done in by the time we got to it. We also both rode Appolo's Chariot, Alpengeist, Invadr, and Verbolten. Son1 rode the new coaster, The Pantheon. I chose to stay on the ground for that one. I have two stories about two of the coasters. Back in 1978, when The Loch Ness Monster was new, I was going to ride it with my dad, but he chickened out, and I was too afraid to ride it alone. After that, I hardly ever rode any roller coasters, and none that did loops. Wednesday, after 44 years, I faced my fear and rode Nessie. In 2005, on a trip to Busch Gardens with the kids from my middle school, I almost rode Alpengeist at the urging of my young colleague and team teacher. Unfortunately, we did not know that tall people such as myself needed to sit in specific seats and when I couldn't buckle the safety harness in a regular seat, I chickened out. But, after riding the Loch Ness Monster, I became fearless and rode Alpengeist. Do you enjoy visiting historic sites? How about riding roller coasters? I think I will enjoy theme parks more now that I've overcome my fear of loop-the-loops.

I enjoy visiting historic sites but have no wish to ride a roller-coaster. I get motion sickness pretty easily and would hate to throw up on a ride.

Getting sick was a worry I had. Thankfully, it didn't happen.

@JudyEv K won't even think about riding any roller coaster. She is highly prone to motion sickness. That's one reason she never liked sailing with me.

@DWDavis The small one I went on had me feeling very queasy so I'd rather not chance my luck.

I have never been a big fan of roller coasters. Ghost stories I love.

My son's enthusiasm inspired me. If he can fly inverted in a fighter plane, I can manage a roller coaster.

I am fine with roller coasters if I don't have to go upside down. My brain literally can't handle it at those speeds.

Glad you had a great time, I enjoy seeing historic sites very much but I have a fear of heights so I avoid roller coasters, I have always wanted to see Busch Gardens,

There is a lot to see in the park when all the shows are going on. You could easily enjoy lunch in the park, take in the shows, have dinner in the park, and then enjoy the fireworks.
