Blame it in another squirrel that has caused 3,000 customers in Asheville North Carolina lose power early in the morning on Wednesday for a period of about a few hours until the engineers from Duke Energy were able to restore power when they found out that the cause of the blackout was due to the squirrel touching some electrical wires.
The only major building that was deeply affected by the electrical blackout in downtown Asheville that did not have their electrical power restored ten thirty local time.
What happened to the squirrel that caused the blackout in Asheville is not known at this time.

@Deepizzaguy Only some are due to possums and they are usually quite localised.

I assume that the squirrel met his maker, otherwise how would they know it was a squirrel?

Now what a silly squirrel too bad it cannot be asked to pay for the damage caused, I wonder how they can avoid this happening again in the future,

That is a good question. Maybe cover the electrical wires are the plants with duct tape.

That is true since is some states in America, blackouts are blamed on the hot weather.

I am sure that the squirrel did flee from the scene as soon as the Duke Power employees saw him.

The television reports are blaming blackouts on the hot weather causing rolling blackouts in some states.

That happened a couple of years ago in my neighborhood. Luckily the power wasn't out for long.

The same thing happened in my former neighborhood due to a car accident that hit a light tower near my former home a few years ago.

We are fortunate here, in that our power cables are underground.
I was surprised that they are not that way in America too.
Still, the huge transmission towers are still above ground here, but nothing much can phase them.

@Deepizzaguy l think that there has to be two birds, or two squirrels, on different wires, and if they touch, then a short happens, and they both get fried.

The same feeling I am having that there are squirrels walking on the high wires on the electrical posts in my neighborhood that have not caused any minor blackouts.

No trace or body of squirrel is found. With that high voltage source of power in the electrical post, nobody would survive.
