To Pierce Or Not To Pierce.

You can make that decision today June 28 which is celebrated as - " International Body Piercing Day". The Day recognizes the practice of body piercing and also -" promotes awareness of both the cultural and safety standards that should be practiced with body piercing. So if you have been thinking of getting a piercing and keep putting it off, today is the day to make a definite decision. Could be your ear, nose, lips, tongue or other body areas. My only body piercing happened when l was a baby - my ears. As an adult l wondered why so early. Seems the health experts believe that babies would feel less pain and are less likely to move about during the procedure. Do you have any body piercing? Do you plan to get any? Do you recall getting your ears pierced?

I do have some piercings but not my ears. (Don't ask unless you really want to know. ) My first wife and I had Pretty's ears pierced when she was two years old. She just looked startled and that was it. Since she grew up, she's gotten quite a few piercings. I believe she has six in both ears now and I know she's had inserts under the skin of her back. (I can see the lumps when she's wearing a bathing suit.) I've never asked if she has any other piercings.

@Kandae11 Chicken! When she looked startled, her mom and I both laughed and that made her laugh, too.

Ha, No l won't ask. When l was researching for this post l read about some unbelievable places. Some persons seem to like torturing themselves in order to be in the fashion or to express themselves. To each his own. Pretty was quite mature about her ear piercing, they say children her age and older would make a big fuss.

@DaddyEvil Yeah, chicken l am. The ear piercing should be quite brief, certainly not as bad as some injections - and we all received vaccinations when we were babies.

@porwest From the information l garnered while putting this post together it seems that piercings in those regions - both male and female - are actually a reality. People can do really weird things to themselves.

Apart from ears being pierced, I think piercing is awful but I know more and more are having it done.

It is becoming more popular as persons try to "express" themselves in more extreme ways.

I looked into nipple piercing but decided I was too old now and it would probably drag my chest down .

@58lordstreet l am unlikely to have any piercing on my body except my ears - and l had that many years ago when l was a baby. I am just imagining the scenario of a fight .Wow!

I tend to wince whenever l see a man with pierced nipples. My first thought is - suppose he gets into a fight and the ring is pulled out, whew!.

Yes, I got my ears pierced many years ago. After a week or so, my ears were swollen due to inflammation. Since then, I never wear any earrings.

Wow! They say it is better to have it done as a baby - after receiving tetanus shots, but l won't want my baby to feel any kind of pain, however slight, but it is a culture thing.

Just my ears, that was enough. I was afraid to get them pierced for years as I tend toward Keloid and can develop too much scar tissue. Not all my scars are like that, but a few are. I didn't want to get some kind of big scar on my ear, but I bit the bullet and it was fine.

I don't have any body piercing. Here the girls are required to have their ears pierced but I have not let it happen to my daughter by imagining the pain that she may feel during the piercing. I thought when she will grow up she will get it by herself.

Only my ears are pierced and that didn't happen until I was into my teenage years. I was excited and it really didn't hurt. I love earrings I have no intention of having anything else pierced

I got my ears pierced when I was seven years old, and I remember I was going for lunch break from school to home and that's when my mum got me pierced. Dew days later I had issues with my ears since I got blister, I ended up removing the ear rings and I use to nurse my ears. Before they blocked completely I put the eating back. Till date I only have my ear pierced.

I think something like a medicated string is put through the piercing to keep it from closing up. That was way back in the day, so l am sure they must have improved methods these days.
