I Just Slapped Myself in the Face

United States
July 5, 2022 1:50am CST
Oh, gee, I was very intent on answering some myLot posts and a mosquito just flew around my face and into my glasses. Not thinking about it, I just tried to kill the mosquito and I missed him but slapped myself in the face. And not just my face, but my glasses so that made the frames hurt my face, Hm I think that's my cue to say good night to all. And hope I don't wake up with a mark on my face! We have a lot of mosquitos due to the humidity. How are the mosquitos these days in your part of the world?

They come and they go. They are more plentiful when it rains.

@Kahdae11 We do have a LOT of rain here in Georgia and I am not used to that, having grown up in New England. I don't like rain, and the fact that it brings a lot of mosquitos makes me like it even less.

The mosquitoes are horrible, despite we are in a drought and there is no humidity and they love me, they love me a lot.

@wolfgirl569 Nope, no bruise, but the next day I got another bite right near my brow bone and it made my eye a bit swollen. I didn't get that one and didn't slap myself in the face that time though.

@Kouponkaren You should try treating the yard. I like to use Triazicide. Not spectacular but it does do some good. You hook it up the hose and just go. Hit the bushes and shrubs, and any areas where dampness and standing water may be an issue.

@porwest I don't like to use any chemicals around the yard. I had cancer once...don't want to get it again, or take any chances that the dog might get sick. I guess I would rather scratch, and slap myself in the face, LOL, but thanks for the advice.

@porwest Thanks, I will try. The mosquitos get into the house though...it's not even like I was getting bit from being outside.

We have some. Not too bad, though. I plant a lot of things that are supposed to repel them. I do wear insect repellent, some. You need to be nicer to yourself. No more hitting.

@yanzalong Yes, maybe we all have to buy electric mosquito killers like @Beestring? That seems to be working for him!

lol I had gotten bit once this summer so far. I was scared that I would get bit at my great-aunt's house yesterday. She has a pool and I sat near the pool. I didn't get bit.

@JESSY3236 Wow, you are fortunate to have only gotten bitten once this year. I have probably gotten about 30 bites so far and it's just the beginning of June. I hope you had a good time at your aunt's pool.

The mosquitoes are quite annoying. Since I live in the high floor, so I don't experice this kind of annoying so much. Have you used some ways to get rid of the mosquitoes such as some lamps to kill the mosquitoes?

@youless I am glad you are not bothered by them. We do use citronella candles when we are out on our back deck. This mosquito found its way into our home though. We don't use anything inside of our house because usually, they don't come inside.

We have had a lot of them this week, due to the heavy rains we got with the humidity and heat being so high. I have some organic spray I use when I go out in the yard to hang out, it works fairly well.

@Kouponkaren Karen, it's called Buggin's natural insect repellent. Supposedly no harmful chemicals. The spray is not unpleasant to smell, and it works great.
