Bugs! Ugh!

Believe me when I say "I've had enough of bugs for a lifetime!" I think we have had every possible awful, disgusting bug imaginable(in the U.S. that is) infesting our apartment at one time or another. (Late 90's)First, it was head lice. They are so nasty. My granddaughter brought them home from grade school.(She will soon be 30 and has three children now). This was in the late nineties. My daughter and I both had long, thick hair then. My granddaughter was the only one who liked her hair shorter. The bugs continued to resurface until finally one weekend I had us scour the place and then I took us to the park. I drove back along the bushes where people wouldn't notice so much. Had us set out on the lawn and I used a comb and took each and every bug and any eggs adhering to the hair shaft. We never had them again. (About 2000)Secondly, we had bed bugs. I don't know how we acquired the horrid little guys but we did. The best we can figure is they came in with an uncovered mattress. I had them biting me at night and it was horrible. Finally, we got rid of all our mattresses and got different ones. (About 2010)The real corker was the cockroaches. Yeah, we had those too. We had to move all of our furniture(a substantial amount too) out from the walls, and vacate for several hours while fumigators came in and sprayed this horrible chemical all around the entire apartment. They are hard to kill and they had to do it twice. We learned later that the rather odd neighbors who could be heard chopping something at all hours and exchanging fowel-smelling packages among other tenants from time to time were the ones who brought them to the complex. Maintenance had to completely redo the flooring in the kitchen after they moved out. I don't know if Karma had us in its clutches or what but, we are now free and clear and don't even have a spider or ant here to speak of. Knock on wood! I learned a lot from these little critters. Hope I never need any of that knowledge again.

I sure hate any kind of bug. When I came to Florida I learned about giant flying cockroaches and had some time with them, Now that my kittens are here I have not seen a single of those nasty critters if they have managed to get in somehow I think perhaps the kittens have had a nice snack so I hope they never come back,

Those flying Florida roaches are terrible. I've even seen them sometimes on the beaches there. Add in the infamous love bug swarms, and that's enough flying bugs for a lifetime. Florida is fun and I do like it, but there certainly are a lot of bugs.

@MarieCoyle ........I wouldn't live in Texas or Florida. I've heard some awful horror stories of regular bugs that are massive. Scary. Those flying roaches sound horrific. Swarms of 'love bugs'? Ikes!

We had an ant problem recently . . . my son left a peach pit in a ramekin in his room . . . a trail of black ants made its way to it . It took a few day of cleaning and sealing the possible areas where they were coming from, but I think it's clear now.

I had ants in my bathroom one time. I found where they were coming in and poured cinnamon all around it. No more ants.

@celticeagle I did read about the cinnamon! I wonder if cinnamon sticks would work (less messy anyway).

Ew! Head lice, bedbugs and cockroaches! You've certainly had your share. I thought we were bad with our ants and occasional field mouse. Have a good week.

I've had a lot of bugs in my home too over the years. I hate them all, except one time walked downstairs and by the front door was a massive amount of ladybugs. That was cool.

How interesting. Wonder what caused them to come together like that. Have you had extraordinarily good luck?

@celticeagle I'm not sure but I've heard it has happened to others. I guess it depends on what we think of luck. I try to look at all the terrible things that didn't happen and all the blessings God has given me.
