What do you look for in a relationship?

In romantic relationships, some look for friendship, some trust, some validation. I realized that I look for validation. So I chose to love myself and be content with whoever I am. I don't need praises and sugary words in exchange of dependency. I think I have done the right thing for myself. What do you look for in a relationship? Do you think you can live alone?

I think you did right thing if you are confident about it. I am in my forties now and through experience I would say that the expectations in any relationship changes with time. You have different expectations at different stages. As long as you keep the expectations realistic and minimal, and both individuals put their efforts in making a relationship work, the relationship will thrive. I can live alone but I love to have loved ones around

Yes expectations do ruin relationships. Like in my previous relationship, I expected my boyfriend to call or text me every alternate day. I mean really is it that hard to call or text your loved one once a day?? No one is that busy. Do you think my expectation was unrealistic?

I value trust more in relationships. I cannot live alone, I need people to talk to. I want to be appreciated for the things I do good.

Trust is one key factor that helps relationship to grow but it should come from both partner and not one sided.

I look for companionship, someone to share my experience with after a hard day. Someone to laugh or cry with in good and difficult times.

@Mikedamini The truth is we don't get what we want. Those who want a career-minded and quiet spouse get very jovial and fun-loving sposes and vice-versa.

???????? this is also what I want, but really can't find genuine people

Man is no island and to enter into a relationship, look for someone who loves you completely not someone to complete you and first of all , love yourself first

Yes, to fall in love you have to suffer as the saying goes.
