When last did you eagerly anticipate an event and counted the days until it arrived? Well that's what l have been doing from as early as 2021. The event l am talking about is the 18th edition of the World Athletics Championships which begin in Eugene Oregon tomorrow July 15th Ten action packed days with 192 nations participating. I can't be there physically, but l can watch every exciting moment on television. I dislike crowded venues anyway so l much prefer watching from the comfort of my home. Are you eagerly looking forward to a special event this summer? Pixabay image

I certainly will. I am not an athletic type but l love watching sprints and long distance running. With covid still around and a new variant to worry about, l prefer to travel through the television.

@Kandae11 It is really stupid to ban athletes, this is something I did not understand.

Great , there will be athletes representing 192 countries , but l think Russian athletes have been banned because of the Russia/Ukraine war.

No, with working two jobs I can't go to something like that not so I watch it on tv. I've not even seen the Olympics in years. But we don't have a working TV. We can only watch older shows and movies on our with our raku player.

@Kandae11 Roku player. It's a unit that you connect to your TV. Many smart TVs come with them installed now. It has apps that have movies and shows on them. We don't pay for streaming TV nor for any regular channels.

That is also a favorite event of mine. But l wasn't aware it was scheduled for this year. So many world events dates have been changed around due to covid.

It looks lovely from the little I saw of it during the coverage of the games. The stadium at Hayward Field, University of Oregon, the venue for the games , was very impressive.

I guess you miss out on a bit of the atmosphere but you certainly get a much better view from your lounge room.

@Kandae11 Cricket can certainly be a bit boring to watch sometimes. And the moment you look away, something happens! lol

Yes indeed , l prefer the comfort of home and my smart TV. Years ago l attended cricket matches at the stadium. Unless it is a 20 over match, l won't have the patience to sit and watch it on TV.

I grew up in Oregon. Left when I was 19. Have only been back once. Lol, I had no idea that this was taking place in Eugene this year. I lived in Eugene when I was little.

@Kandae11 Hippies. Lol. It was always the hippie capital when I was growing up. The school there is known for being more "crunchy."

@thislittlepennyearns They mentioned Hayward Field at the University of Oregon as the main venue. This is the first time the United States will be hosting. In 2024 it will be Budapest Hungary.
