Quidditch is changing its name

Quidditch is a fictional game that appears in the Harry Potter series of books. It involves witches/wizards flying around on broomsticks. The "snitch" (a small gold ball that flies around the playing area) is set loose and it is up to the "seekers" to, well, chase it in an attempt to capture it. There are two other types of balls: quaffles and bludgers. Quaffles can be passed around and shot on the goal to earn a point. Bludgers are iron balls that fly around the playing area and try to attack all players equally. The "chasers" chase the quaffles and shoot them at the goals while the "beaters" hit/deflect the bludgers in an attempt to knock opponents off of their brooms. The game ends when one of the seekers captures the snitch. At that point the team with the most points wins. So I read today that quidditch is changing its name and I was all confused. Why would a fictional wizard game have to change its name? Well, it is changing its name because it has been adapted into a real game that can be played in person. I didn't read much about it but I do know that the snitch has been replaced by a tennis ball and volleyballs are used as one of the other game balls. Players have to run around with a "broom" (looks like a piece of PVC pipe) between their legs. Apparently it is a huge thing and is played by teams all over the world. The author of the Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling, has made several transphobic comments over the years. She recently doubled-down on one of them that she got called out for. I get that Rowling now has more money than God after the success of her books but for some reason she insists on making inflammatory statements that have alienated many of her fans and even 2 of the 3 actors who played the main characters in the series. (Daniel Radcliffe/Harry and Emma Watson/Hermione) Soooo the sport's two North American governing bodies and the international association have announced that they are changing the name of the sport from "quidditch" to "quadball". Funfact: other possible names considered included "quadraball" and "quidball". Honestly I don't care what they call the game since, well, I didn't even know it existed until this morning. Now that I do--I wouldn't care if they kept the name quidditch or if they changed it. J.K. Rowling's transphobic comments have changed my opinion of her and would prevent me from spending my money to buy any new books of hers. What the game based on the competition in her books is called doesn't affect me in any way.
Quidditch, the real-life sport inspired by the airborne game played by young wizards in "Harry Potter," is ditching its whimsical name. Now, athletes will mount broomsticks to play quadball.

Everyone who has gained fame in the entertainment industry has gotten in trouble for making comments that offend certain groups which result in name changes even if the said celebrity says that they did not mean for their remarks to sound harmful. It reminds me of the Little League saying "Think before you throw the baseball to the other fielder." Or in the case "Think before you speak on sensitive issues."

I could care less about the name change either. As for J. K. Rowling...She should feel so blessed that her books have been published and made into a movie. I"m still trying to get my one book published.
