Good morning from this side of the planet. It's a Happy Thursday morning . It's cloudy out there but no signs of rain. We didn't get any rain yesterday and it was a pleasant day with some good sun.. We hope that we get some good sun today too as I plan to wash one load of laundry once I am back from work at lunchtime. I have a short break here for about 10 minutes and I just thought to write this post as I sip my coffee. Had been pretty occupied in the last two days with some work in the evening. Tuesday was a shopping day and we did spend some good time in the afternoon shopping. It was all for my elder daughter as she is soon going to college campus. We finished a part of the shopping list. . We will do the rest on Friday afternoon. I guess something or the other will keep popping up till the last moment . But I want to finish all chores and errands on weekdays to keep my weekends lazy and for relaxing. On Wednesday, I was invited to give a talk to teachers in the Montessori school where I worked for more than 10 years and I am still associated with them. I have to go again today in the afternoon to finish the later part of the talk. So, today afternoon would be busy with that. The talk is close to my heart and I am happy that the audience there is receptive to it Have not much been here due to these engagements in the afternoon. My next session begins in another 10 minutes and then I have no more sessions. I have my last meeting with the Montessori adult to get the weekly report of the class. I should be free by 12. That's the picture of the paper weaving that I just did with the child who came to me in the morning session. He did it with lots of help and I would repeat it a few times more for him to get better at it. He is enjoying it. Today we did play the bus game to recall our concept of odd and even. He enjoyed the session. Getting back to reading some of your post before it's time to get back to work. Have a good time in your mylot corner . Will get back to the notifications in the next break time.

It's great if you can come up with games and activities that the children enjoy but which also help them learn various concepts.

@JudyEv Now we try to take them outdoors in the evening. It has been lesser during the current hot and humid weather but will try to have more from September onwards.

Thank you Judy.. Being a educator especially for primary years and special needs, I have to be creative. They need to have the joy of learning to have that interest and inner motivation to learn.. If they are involved, it becomes easier for me too

@arunima25 Yes I'm always busy too - certainly never bored! Yes my friend enjoys her work - she had a career change years ago when her daughter was little and moved to a Montessori school where she thrived.

Thank you. Good to hear from you. I don't come across you here so much these days. Weaving is therapeutic and a good activity for strengthening cognitive skills. Glad that children enjoyed it. Hope you had a good weekend . Have a good week

@Rashnag I try being regular here but not able to spend much time here due to so many offline obligations. But yes, coming here definitely helps me relax. I hope you are missing here for some good reasons. It's always good to see this place beaming with activities.

My wife helped the kids with similar paper weaving for one of the umpteen) School Activities some years back!! You did not get Thursday morning rains because it rained very very heavily in whole of the Delhi NCR. Around 2-3 PM, in fact, it became very dark in between. And of course, waterlogging and traffic jams followed. Have a nice time here and offline!

Weaving is therapeutic and helps in so many ways to develop cognition and so many academic skills. It's effective for that coordination between left and right hemisphere. There are many advanced activities of weaving there. My daughters actually have a weaving board and they still weave many beautiful rugs, runners, mats, sheets etc. When someone asked me how my daughters are so quick with Maths and comprehension, I would say that because they knit, weave, do crochet and crafts.. They never went to abacus or other brain teasers classes. Glad to know that rain has brought some relief. I hope that it's a better weather now. I have not talked to mom or brother in the last few days due to so much engagement on my end. So, not aware of the current weather situation there.

I remember doing weaving like this with our son when he was in junior kindergarten. They only went every other day, and the days in between we always had 'school' time at our place. I am sure that there will be something every week that your daughter needs before school.

Weaving is therapeutic and a great activity for strengthening cognitive skills. There are many advanced activities in weaving for older children and adults. We can make beautiful projects. You did help your child spend his time in purposeful activities My elder one is moving ahead with her new life on campus. Yes, something or the other keeps adding to the list

Sounds like you're busy with all good things. That must be nice giving a talk at the Montessori school. Your child did good work on that paper weaving project, It takes concentration to do it right. Wow time is flying by this summer. Your daughter will be off to college soon.

I enjoy giving those talks. I keep it very casual and talk from my heart. I would say that he struggled a lot in the beginning but then he got a hang of it. I am impressed that despite his poor muscle strength and shaking of hands, he did an impressive job with very little help at the end. Yes, my daughter will be leaving by August end.

You are brave to talk in front of others. But I guess it would be easier if it's a subject you are passionate about.

When I started it, I was nervous. But then as years passed, I am getting better at it. And the topics are close to my heart. I talk from my heart. I still feel that excitement mixed with a bit of nervousness when I start but soon I am comfortable and confident.
