What if You Win the Lottery?

The big buzz here in my area is the Mega Millions Lottery that is up to $1 billion. Hubs bought tickets. I just continue to play my same numbers in the Ohio Classic Lotto game.
Many of you have been talking about "what if" you should win.
We would buy a home in the Florida Keys on a canal; and hubs would buy a small fishing boat. We would probably make some repairs to our present home before selling it; and we would be able to make some huge donations to various good causes such as St. Jude's Hospital, our local Humane Society, Shriner's Hospital, heck, you could probably get a whole hospital wing named after you!!!
AND: We would hire a chef and a chauffeur. We don't really have a lot of family around; but maybe we would pay off my husband's second cousin's house (our housekeeper).
So what would you do with all of that money?

Donations first, absolutely!
Repair my family’s houses, pay them off, and make sure they’re out of debt.
Buy the Putt Putt franchise and revitalize it.
Get a little condo in Destin with a ferry to Key West.(I ain’t getting stuck on the Overseas Highway in an evacuation!)

Cool that you would buy the Putt Putt franchise. Where's Destin? I'll make sure I have enough bedrooms to have company!

@LindaOHio I think it would be better to give less to more people, it is too much money for one person only.

That certainly is a heck of a lot of money
. I would love to build my own house and have everything on one floor. I would also make sure my children and grandchildren were comfortable and wouldn't have to struggle.
I would also contribute to the nursing home that took such good care of my mom when she was there and of course St. Judes is one of my favorite charities

It is ALWAYS fun to dream and think about it, and I probably do more often than I should. But hey, somebody HAS to win, and if it happens to be me out of some odd stroke of luck I want to be fully prepared.
First I will need a good doctor, because chances are I'd fall out of my chair and break something. Beyond that I will finally get that RV. But it will be a big, bus one. I will get a condo somewhere in the panhandle in Florida, plus a couple more in a couple places the wife and I like to be often. I will likely keep the house we live in now and install an inground pool.
Most of the money will be invested of course, and most of the money spent will be from the proceeds rather than the principal.

@LindaOHio Hey. I like this idea. About a 10 hour drive to down there isn't it? From the panhandle, that is. lol

The hiring a chef is something I would do too. I think it's a brilliant idea. I would quit my job for sure and find something I enjoy and feel like I belong and fit in.
You have a good heart to want to donate to various charities.

We are no longer able to cook; and a chef would be an excellent addition. Unfortunately, we did not win!

@yoalldudes We have Meals on Wheels Monday through Friday. It's a program for seniors in which they deliver a lot meal each day. The other days we eat soup, frozen dinners or sometimes takeout.

I never asked this to myself ever. Why? I never play the lottery. No matter how big the jackpot is, I am never tempted to play one. I'm just not into any game of chance that involves money.
But if ever, I would donate a portion of it, keep most of the money in the bank, invest some. Will never splurge on material things. Would definitely help those that victims of the calamities here. Will have a separate account for that in the bank since it happens here quite often. Would support dog/cat pound.

I would share it with family and friends. Make a big donation to our church. I like the chauffeur and cook idea lol. My daughter would like a home on the ocean in Rhode Island.
Probably take a world cruise so I could visit Australia and new zealand. Spend some time in England. Talk to my financial advisor!! Change my phone number lol

All good choices. Hubs is not driving as well as he used to, so the chauffeur idea is a good one; and I can't cook anymore; and hubs is having trouble standing and walking; so the chef idea is even better for us!

We don't really have any family to help. Maybe I would pay off our housekeeper's mortgage (she's my husband's second cousin). Your choices are all good ones.

Probably do the same as you. Give some to worthy causes, buy a home somewhere warmer, maybe buy an electric vehicle since I would actually be able to afford one. Share with my family.

That would be amazing to win that much, wow! Sounds like good things you would do with the money. I'd definitely buy a home with 2 bathrooms, an awesome kitchen, enough bedrooms for as many kids as we want to have...and a pool. I'd also buy a nice NEW car with air conditioning that actually works! The rest....not sure. Maybe buy a food truck or restaurant that my husband and I can run

@LindaOHio It would be nice to have a home of our own and not living in an apartment where we have to have all these inspections and people in our business

First help my family and then give a lot of money to certain hospitals that have served us so well.
Plus I would like to help some seniors to have a more comfortable life.
There are a lot of other causes.
I don't need much as I am pretty well in a good spot.

I would return to Riga, Latvia, because there I could live a life that is quiet and simple, and of course, if I do not have to worry about money then I do as I please, A great deal I would donate to many worthy places. I would hire a chauffer to drive me around and I would do as I please and always walk around with a great big smile and thank the Lord even as I do now for all that I am blessed with, I don't play this lottery so I do not have a chance to wing but I do wish you a lot of luck,

Oooh!! Decisions, decisions hmm... whatever would I do with that sort of money?
*rubbing hands with evil grin*
LOL! On a serious note, I would buy myself home, and a car, invest a majority of it, donate a portion to chosen charities, start a small business, etc. etc.
