July 27, 2022. The Earth Shakes. My 1990 Experience

It was around 8 AM today when the ground shook. This reminds me of the 1990 earthquake. Today's earthquake registered 7.3 magnitude. 1990 was 7.7 magnitude. I have seen destruction in the Abra province. I saw structures collapsed. 1990 was a different story. The ground cracked open and water and mud came out that year. It is still vivid to me though it has been years and years ago. We abandoned our homes and moved in a nearby chapel. I can't remember how many families evacuated that day. We spent almost a week and returned to our homes after. (Edited this part) Our house was made of wood and bamboo but thankful it did not collapse that year. We were scared that the ground will crack open again every time there were aftershocks.

Good thing I was in the far south during that time although we felt that too since I was on the 3rd floor of our school and was attending a class that day. It was frightening since I could see the roof of our adjacent building moving left and right. it was disorientating and the other classrooms near us suddenly shouted I know some students panicked and ran while it was shaking. I know one student slipped on her way down and lose consciousness. I just do not know what happened to that student. Good thing our teacher was calm and told us to stay put and wait for the quake to stop before she dismissed us and slowly evacuated our classroom.

After weeks, I can't remember how many weeks we did not go to school. But when we were back to school, there was an earthquake again. All pupils went out of the rooms. Glad that there was no stampede.

Oh, wow! I've never experienced an earthquake. (I have experienced several tornadoes, though. I've never been hurt in any of them, though.) I hope you never get to experience another earthquake again.

Glad that you were never hurt in any of the tornadoes. I have experienced flooding, typhoons and earthquakes. Though, I have experienced lots of these disasters, I am still scared.

@jobelbojel Pretty and I used to sit on our front porch at our last house and watch the tornadoes go around our city. Once, when we were driving four hours to Kansas City to an amusement park, a tornado followed us and then stayed beside us for around ten minutes. It was only about a car length away from our car but there wasn't any place to pull off the highway, so I kept driving and Pretty and I watched the tornado. I'm glad you've never been hurt in those disasters. Please be careful!

@DaddyEvil That was scary, like you've been chased by the raging wind. Good thing it did not take you.

In 1990, were you able to go back to your house later? It must have been very scary.

That's the thing with disasters. It will be years from that satanic day when the apocalypse happened, still we remember. The nightmare never gets completely washed away.

Hong Kong is not in the earthquake zone. We don't have earthquakes except sometimes we felt them slightly due to the quake which happened nearby.

We are in the ring of fire, so we experience earthquakes. I heard that the earthquake was also felt in Taiwan. Japan and China.

Can't remember the 1990 earthquake. I'm still a kid at that time. That is a hard experience you had. Earthquake is scary. Good thing we are all sleeping in the ground floor of our house and we leave the second floor. Should earthquake happen at night we can get out of the house immediately

Thankfully safe. My sister said it was as if they were on a swing this morning. They felt it because they were upstairs. And asked them to go down and we immediately went out of the house.

I actually saw three people wrote about it but instead of just the current earthquake, I added the 1990 to have a different topic.
