Star- Gaia Weis My Rating *** Genre – Horror/Sci Fi Run Time – 1 hr 29 Minutes. Certificate – 18 Country – US/French Canadian Awards – 15 Wins & 50 Nominations = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = So Meander, a French/English movie from young director Mathieu Turi, he of the enjoyable film Hostile, the Sci-Fi horror about a young woman trapped in her overturned car by a ravenous monster. This is his chosen genre as Meander is again in that area. =Plot= 30 something Lisa (Gaia Weis) is mourning the death of her younger daughter one year on, hitching a ride late at night with a strange and menacing guy, Adam (Peter Franzen). He’s a bad man and attacks her in his truck, Lisa coming around dressed in a special jump suit in a sealed, mysterious space with a likewise electronic device on her wrist and Adam nowhere to be seen. She calls out for help but no one is listening, The wrist device is a timer with a 11 minute countdown and it’s just stared ticking as a gateway opens to which she has to enter. She appears to be trapped in some sort of claustrophobic maze that she can only just crawl through and soon finds out death is around every corner as she battles fire, water, deadly guillotine blades, predators and more, going deeper and deeper, no clue why she is there or where the end is, an increasingly terrifying and exhausting battle for survival Result I enjoyed this even though it did not get a great rating with the general public on IMDB. What I like about it best is it becomes clear mid-movie that this is not just a straightforward vulnerable woman abduction film and all men are pigs type thing. This is emancipated woman movie and at that half-way point its reveal suggests it’s not going to be locked into just the one genre as the film becomes more ethereal and interesting. It’s violent in a way films are these days towards women but redemption will come on that ladies. Some may find the ending unsatisfactory but as a horror movie it offers a lot more than the endless slasher horror churned out from streaming studios like Netflix and Amazon. It’s kind of subtitled and kind of American and a religious allegory or two going on here but its minimal cast and dialogue so that stuff should not put you off. Weis is strong in the lead and the intrigue that develops as she moves through the deadly maze keep you interested, leading to the big twist. One to watch. ===RATINGS=== Imdb.com -5.5 /10.0 ( 4,6 k views) Rottentomatos.com –75% critic’s approval Metacritic.com – 67% critic’s approval ===Trailer=== https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5752192/mediaviewer/rm1700055297/?ref_=tt_ov_i

I'm not much into horror films, but sci-fi, thrillers, and fantasy movies could catch my attention. Like Train to Busan, Squid Game, and Armageddon. What do you think of these movies? By the way, I am curious how the movie ended? I'm not going to watch it but I just want to know how it ended, I hope she gets out of it alive.
