I posted recently (July 28th--post: "Business Card") about a neighbor making business cards for me and the "dog walking" business I'd like to start (or, offer my services--don't know if I could really call it a business).
Something else the lady who made me the cards said was "You could put them on bulletin boards at different places".
While that was a nice idea, I didn't know of any bulletin boards around that I could put one of them on.
When I went to the jewelry store today to ask about my mother's ring, I stopped at the pet store, which is two doors down, to see if there were any dogs in there (dogs that belonged to customers, sometimes seeing another dog makes me feel better about missing Angel)
Unfortunately there was no one with a dog in there.
One of the young ladies who worked there came up and asked if she could help with something.
I told her that I had just popped in to see if there were any dogs in there, and because there was no one in there (that didn't work there) but me at the time she chatted with me for a while.
I talked to her about Angel, and somehow the conversation turned to my wanting to walk folks' dogs and that I had a card. She said something like:
"Oh, people are always coming in here looking for people to walk their dogs. We have a bulletin board in the front and that back of the stores that you could put your card on."
Of course, I didn't have any cards with me at the time, but that is something that I am definitely going to do.

Always carry a few cards with you if you're serious about starting this service. You never know when you might meet someone who's looking for a dogwalker.
