New Music Is Falling In Popularity in the US

United States

"Down by nearly two million units on the 133.1million units recorded in the first half of 2021. Despite that, anything streamed, downloaded or purchased prior to 18 months grew by 14 per cent to 344million units in the first half of this year." "In the UK meanwhile, a recent report showed vinyl sales in the UK look set to overtake CDs this year." There's so many ways to access music now (radio, internet, streaming, etc) there's no excuse for it being this bad... I was born in the 80s, but for some reason (quality), 99% of the music I love was made before my birth. I noticed this with movies, too, after randomly picking stuff, and noticing a trend.

I rarely listen to any music. Ironic when there are so many ways now to access it. I had nothing but records and radio as a kid.

Same, and cassette tapes.. Now, people can download millions of songs, or go on YouTube. I keep finding great 70s stuff. Some more obscure than others. The sad thing is, for the longest time, I would try to find good new bands/artists, because I have never had the feeling of looking forward to a band's next album, or seeing a band in their prime, although most bands/artists from the 60/70s were still amazing.
