Fear of Monkeypox contagion has resulted in some residents of a South American country taking it upon themselves to kill mokeys! You can read all about it in the attached AP report. People aren't very intelligent when they're scared and don't know what to do. They make up what seems like good ideas to them at the time and those ideas are often wrong... But you can't convince them of that. Maybe scientists should stop naming diseases after an animal so people won't, maybe, reach wrong conclusions from those bad ideas... Scientists could just call diseases by a letter/number combination and save the lives of some poor, innocent animals.

@Kandae11 I think it would work and wouldn't make people think of different animals as being "responsible" for the sickness. I HOPE it would work that way.

Some people are still quite ignorant and backward when it comes to matters like this. It's very sad that they're killing monkeys.

I'm agreeing with DE on this one, "people aren't very intelligent when they're scared and don't know what to do." It's a shame!
