High cost of cheese affecting PIZZA!

This won't be good, not in my family. I don't eat a lot of cheese, but I do love it. I just try to eat it sparingly. But I have kids and grands, especially two of my grandsons, who think they need pizza with lots of cheese, almost daily. Or mac and cheese. Or grilled cheese. Anything cheese! I purchased some blocks of swiss, provolone, and cheddar last week that were on sale. But the sale price was still no bargain, it was just the lowest price I could find. I suppose it makes sense, milk and other dairy items are way up in price, as are eggs. We went out for pizza the other evening with some of the kids--and I could see the prices were way up from previous visits, I mean, way way up! Enjoy your pizza, and appreciate the cheese!!

I think we've only bought pizza at Walmart since Covid began. If we can't see the person making our food, we won't eat there! Too many places make their employees work when they're sick with Covid. There's no way I'll eat in a restaurant now!

@MarieCoyle I don't know of any place like that in my area. We have a Chinese friend who owns a restaurant here. If we call him, he will tell us to come to his house and he will cook for us. But he's the only person we trust like that... We won't let him feed us very often and he won't let us pay if we go to his house. (We've done it twice in two years.)

One of my sons is a lifelong friend of a family who owns a pizza place. We have been in and out of there for years and years...we know how strict and clean they are, so we felt safe eating there. They still insist on masks and sanitize everything constantly.

@DaddyEvil This place has been in business since 1973? I think. They have two locations. Both my sons went to college with 2 of their sons, they are like family to us. We don't go often, like I said, it is about a 45 mile drive--but we wanted to see them, so we went after 8 pm as they aren't very busy then, and had a private room to eat in and visit with all of them--it was so nice!

Dairy items and other groceries are definitely on the rise in terms of price. There's no other choice but to follow through.

Oh geez (cheez) and that's one of those things that you can't really make from scratch (or at least I can't - not all the varieties that we eat!). We have not had "real" pizza in so long . . . I can imagine the prices going up as everything else has. I will be digging for the deals even more now .

@MarieCoyle That's what we've been doing . . . we don't order pizza but we can certain do them up at home. Luckily we don't put a whole lot of cheese on ours. But I sure miss having a big hot pizza in a box !

The kids love pizza, we've always made it at home a lot. The grands absolutely love when I make small pizza crusts and they can load their own up with whatever they want to have on it. Kind of a rite of passage around here, learn to make your own pizza as soon as you can toddle!

@much2say I don't relish the mess, but oh, well. It tastes good and they all love it.

At least dairy and cheese prices have not increased here. Switzerland has many cows to produce milk and cheese, eggs price has increased a bit, not too much.

@MarieCoyle We both do not drink milk, I use milk mainly to prepare cakes and desserts. I am also cutting on cheese, a little is good and needed, too much is not good because of the high cholesterol content. Cheddar is the one with the highest cholesterol content, I do not buy it anymore. Mozzarella, Parmesan and Ricotta have a lower content.

I am lucky to barter for my eggs, don't use much milk as I cannot drink it.

@LadyDuck Yes, I eat cheese in very small amounts. A little goes a long way.

I love cheese, but try to eat it in moderation, which can be difficult.

I love pizza but seldom buy it as it costs a lot. When I was still working for a Korean company, twice a month the boss gave a treat by buying a large plate if pizza. We enjoyed it.

Food in general is costing a lot more. I surely do try not to waste any of it.

I couldn't even remember when we went out for pizza, it had been so long. We make ours at home for the most part.

I noticed that our local place increased the price on a pizza too. Everything just keeps going up and making it difficult to stay within a budget. I heard yesterday that there is a potato shortage. What next??

Our family has cut way, way back on cheese. We don't need much of it. Pizza is still a treat to us.
