Walking in the Rain

The lovely summer feels are not very present in Guernsey this week. It rained while we were walking to the shops today. It's a long walk as I was craving for some mochi with ice cream on the inside and it is only sold in Waitrose which is 1.7km away from us. The walk made my healing ankle angry. But we managed to procure my cravings and some other treats. I feel proud of myself for enduring that walk. Ps: Saw these berries along the way and thought they looked pretty with the rain drops.

Wow you really walked all the way to get your craving. Anyway I hope that your ankle is fine now. That berries looked interesting I just do not know if they are edible to humans.

@Fleura I see at first glance they looked like they are edible.

@rsa101 They are certainly attractive and glossy, they ripen from red to black. Apparently they cause 'digestive distress' and can cause photosensitization.

I know how you feel when my legs are in pain when I have go outside to throw the trash into the can and pick up the plates that are used to feed the stray dog and cat at night for dinner.

I know and I am still in my 30s. You feed strays? I love that!

Yes staying here until a decision on my UK visa has been made. My boyfriend being the provider and buying groceries as I am jobless.

They had tough skin so I suppose they aren't maybe for birds.

Thank you. I do like it too specially if I am not going anywhere fancy. Those "I don't care how I look" days!

@CarolDM Yeah it is nice to just go out and not need to be somewhere. And also not need to keep up with appearances. These days I just put on my big shades and no more make up.

Yeah it's a pity. Usually august is still summer but now feels like it's autumn.

You should get yourself a bicycle, it would make trips like that so much quicker and easier. Did you at least have an umbrella with you?

Glad you got what you wanted; hope the ankle recovers too. That plant is a variety of St John's wort (Hypericum). I have some in the garden too but don't be tempted by the pretty berries because they are toxic.

Thank you Fleur. Yes these berries do look tasty but I have learned my lesson about eating fruits I do not know.

1.7 km walk is a bit long and an ordeal to your healing ankle. Anyway you did.
