Liz Cheney says she is considering running for president in 2024

Cheney lost her primary race to a straight up MAGA loon yesterday in Wyoming. She lost despite the fact that she won the district two years ago with 73% of the vote. The problem is that she did not promote Trump's lie about having the election "rigged and stolen" from him. Trump endorsed her primary challenger. She also voted to impeach him for the January 6 insurrection attempt. She is the vice-chair of the January 6 House Select Committee and has not held back in her blistering criticism of Trump. You didn't need a crystal ball to see that Cheney was going to lose by a lot. Still she stuck to her principles despite the fact that she was going to lose her seat in the House of Representatives. Cheney won fans who are Democrats because they appreciated that she didn't lie and grovel at Trump's feet. So now--on the day after her huge primary loss--Liz Cheney said that she is thinking about running for president and would make a decision in the coming months. Again you don't need to have a crystal ball to know that would be a TERRIBLE decision. Trump runs the MAGA cult and he is a petty, vengeful man. Even if he doesn't wind up running again himself in 2024, he would NEVER endorse Cheney is she somehow miraculously became the GOP nominee. That's just who he is. And as much as Democrats are enjoying watching her stick it to Trump and stand up for what is right--they aren't going to vote for her. She may be willing to defy Trump but she votes the way he wants almost all of the time which means she is against gun control reform, abortion rights, environmental protections, etc. Those issues are important to Democrats so she isn't going to pick up votes from any but perhaps the most conservative Democrats. I don't claim to be a political expert but I pay enough attention to know that any attempt by Cheney to run for president would be a colossal waste of time and money. I hope and trust that she will find a more productive way to keep fighting Trumpism.

Cheney is delusional. She compared herself to Abraham Lincoln. She's a RINO for sure. No wonder she lost the primary.

Why do you think she is a RINO? She voted with Trump like 90% of the time.

@NJChicaa She voted to impeach Trump and she's tried her hardest (unsuccessfully) to ruin him through the Jan 6 mess.

@1creekgirl so she should 100% support a Republican president (or member of Congress) even if he/she did something she felt was wrong? That's why I call Trump's MAGA people cult members. He isn't a king. He isn't always right. Many Republicans knew that what Nixon did was wrong and that is why he resigned. He was told that he was going to be impeached and he didn't have enough votes even in his own party to survive that. If he encouraged that someone be harmed or killed, should all GOP members of Congress support that despite the fact that it would clearly be illegal? As for the January 6 stuff--I wouldn't say that she has been unsuccessful just yet. I think there is a lot more to come out, especially now that people are supposedly coming out of the woodwork to provide information to the Committee.

If I were Liz Cheney, I would work for CNN or MSNBC to have her own segment sharing her knowledge of politics and write a book since it would be interesting reading.

@NJChicaa The word from political pundits on the internet is that she wants to play spoiler in 2024.

@Deepizzaguy makes no sense. She is adamant that she doesn't want to see Trump back in the White House. Her running as an independent would siphon off votes and give Trump another victory.

She has a ton of money on hand and I expect her to form a PAC.
