Pondering

Some thoughts that crossed my mind today: Why would someone make sure to get a fragrance free, dye free, sensitive skin laundry soap, and then throw their clothes in the dryer with scented fabric softener sheets? Second question, or ponderable: Why would a burger place in a decent sized town that has two small colleges close at 7 pm on a summer night? Do they want to stay in business? Just a mile or so down the road another burger joint is open 24/7. Guess where we spent money? Both places claim to be "travel plazas" and are connected to convenience stores and gas stations. To me being closed that early just makes no sense at all.

You're right. It's like closing a delivery pizza place before 8pm.

Maybe they were short staffed

All I can think of is that it is a staffing issue, or their business is not drawing enough customers to justify staying fully open. We could have gone through the drive through and eaten in the car, but that is not what we wanted to do, so went down the road to the full service place that was open. You could see and hear lots of evidence of good business practices while they worked.

Not sure why people would be dye-free detergent only to use fragranced dryer sheets. Makes no sense. The one burger joint may have trouble keeping help. We are a small community but I have noticed some of our local restaurants had signs on their doors that they will only be open on certain days because there is no help to run them.

This is my sister. I personally do not use any softener or fragrance in my laundry, choosing to use white vinegar in the rinse. I feel like even the softening chemicals can irritate sensitive skin. She may not be aware that there are unscented sheets.

I don’t think you get as much of the perfume from sheets

Maybe they can't get anyone who wants to work after 7?

I wonder if corporate sets the hours they can be open, based on how much traffic they see, It surprises me though, because of two colleges in town and being on a main thoroughfare. The other place is closer to the interstate, though.

Fabric softener sheets may not have a fragrance-free option. The burger place may only be open for dinner. Many places have these early hours even in summer.

There is a fragrance free option on the sheets. I quit using anything like sheets, though and only use white vinegar in the rinse, because those same chemicals that make your fabric soft can also cause cancer or affect your thyroid, etc. Burger place used to be open til 9 or 10 but that was pre covid. They do have a drive through option, but I would rather not eat my meals in my car.

@GardenGerty .......Good idea. Hamburger place may change their hours next year. Getting back to normal after COVID is tough for everyone. We need to be patient.

You are absolutely right because especially on warm summer nights people stay out later and are always looking for a snack

That's the kind of business we have here. It's heightened struggle to survive in business.

Scented anything ..hate all of it. So bad for the skin that absorbs all that stuff..so no I do not know why. And why to close so early..they are lazy. Thats all. I have been pondering why I dont see Ponderosa anymore.

I fully agree with you about the pizza place. I noticed that people do weird things, and this one of scented fabric softener sheets is one of those weird things.

Maybe the first person isn't as sensitive to various perfumes as they think they are. In the second case, the store that closes early is cutting its own throat.

Interesting choices. Mind-boggling decisions. Maybe, these businesses do not have staff to work at their establishments?

We use fragrance free detergent and fragrance free fabric softener. It makes no sense at all to close at 7 pm. They are missing out on a ton of business; but maybe for them they can make a decent living and not have to work 24/7.

they dont like customers at all in Spain lol, the opening hours are basically when nobody wants to eat , you have to fit in with when they want to open .There have been times when I was waiting for a chinese to open as nobody else wanted to bother

The laundry thing certainly doesn't make sense. Re the burger place, do they often close that early, or just occasionally, May be they don't get enough staff.

Sumner has longer days. They could close later at night as far as I know.

The laundry situation makes no sense. I guess the person just didn't think it through! There must be a reason the burger place closes early. It's unfortunate because they are potentially losing many sales.

Anymore you can never be sure just what time some places close. The McDonald's closest to my house (that I never go to!) had 3 mornings last week they couldn't even open, as no one showed up to work at all. They had to ship corporate people to try to run it and hire more people. Sometimes I will go somewhere and there will be a sign on a business that says, sorry, closed until whenever, we have no help. We live in weird times.

That's way to early to close,it's like they don't need the money from the sales.
