Beautiful but disgusting!

We recently saw this image on a poster advertising a show at the Royal Academy of Arts. From a distance it looks exactly like a photo of a mouldy lemon, but on closer inspection you can see it is a very cleverly constructed model covered in beads. Someone must have devoted hours to the study of mouldy fruit so as to reproduce the colours and patterns so precisely. It's so life-like you can almost smell the decomposition as you look at it. It’s really very clever, and executed so perfectly – but I wouldn’t want it in my living room! All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2022.

@Fleura It proves that I am not alone in Trypophobia .It is mainly due to psychological factor.

I had never heard of such a thing until recently when a friend told me she couldn't bear Swiss cheeses because of the holes!

@changjiangzhibin89 I had never heard of it before, I confess I laughed! But since then I have found that it is a known phobia, although not officially recognised.

I thought the beads were placed on a real lemon that was developing mold.

@fleura That is very clever indeed. I wonder if any gallery would give me money for what’s been sitting at the bottom of my fruit bowl all summer.

I would not want that in my home either, but it’s very artistic and disgusting at the same time.
