Hop!

As we came back from having Bob get diagnosed with Covid, we had a moment of entertainment. The house next door is basically abandoned. Lots of overgrown greenery. It is a good habitat for birds and beasts. When we pulled into our driveway we saw a female cardinal fly in over the ramshackle garage. She was zeroed in on a grasshopper. The grasshopper would see her coming and hop really high. She would pursue, but miss, then off they would go again. I know she stuck with it until she finally got him, but it was fun to see the game of chase unfold.

@GardenGerty - The mornings are cool now, I love to be outside until 11 a.m., before the sun starts to be too hot.

It certainly is. I am just barely beginning to see the fall changes creep in.

Right now it just has old furniture inside stacked to the ceiling. I would love to be able to buy the property and clean it up.

At its best, along with a free lunch for the bird.

Cardinals are lovely. That interplay between the bird and insect would have been fun to watch.

I don't think we have any pure red birds like your cardinals. I read 'Song of the Cardinal' by Gene Stratton Porter once.
