Even farmers like correct spelling

The top photo here is of a field bin. This would be towed behind a tractor or truck and filled with grain from a harvester. When it’s detached from the towing vehicle the wheels can be tucked up so it won’t roll away. There are also levers to open and shut a chute so the field bin itself can be emptied. Directions have been hand-written on the bin to help in its operation. I’ve had to crop most of the instructions but towards the bottom of the lower photo, you can see that someone has written ‘disconect (sic) PTO before moving’ (PTO is ‘power take off’). I think it is so cute that someone had realised that ‘disconect’ has been misspelt and they’ve added the extra ‘n’ above. Obviously, someone likes to get their spelling correct.

@judyev I heartily approve of misspelled words being noted and corrected. Slovenly spelling irritates me, especially on menus. Misspelled food does not taste good or sit well in my mouth.

Menus can have some awful mistakes on them but it doesn't usually affect my enjoyment of the food.

The writing seems to be the same. I guess he just got a bit careless.

Good that someone noticed and corrected it. I suspect it is the same person since the handwriting seems to be similar. Although you can literally understand it with the misspelled word but he was conscious enough to correct it still.

If he hadn't corrected it, he would have been noticing it every time he went past.

I like to misspell words for the fun of it but when it comes to instructions for items like this it is best to spell words correctly.

I guess if he hadn't put the extra 'n' in, it would have worried him for weeks.

Yes, always safe to disconnect power sources before moving items (unless said item is a vehicle, of course).

I thought it was a really good idea to write the instructions on the bin. Not everyone is familiar with all farm machines.

I always wondered what those were on farms. I hate when I misspell something. Thankfully auto correct helps a lot

Mistakes jump out at me. It looks like the same person corrected the error as made the mistake. The writing looks the same.

Hopefully it wasn’t the owner’s teacher who corrected it. “I taught this boy in school for four years and could never get him to spell connect correctly.”
