My Thoughts on Forgiving Student Loans

This is coming from someone who will be repaying student loans for the rest of my life. It was my choice to take out those loans and earn all those degrees. It is my responsibility to pay them back. I know there are passionate arguments, on both sides, as to if they should be forgiven. But know this: if you choose the forgiveness, there will be a much higher price to pay( by the recipients and future generations). This is the government we are talking about. with the exception of a small, few public servants, when have they ever done anything that doesn’t somehow benefit them and serve their agendas? BEWARE: This is a trap. When are we going to stop behaving like a bunch of beggars with grubby hands reaching out for a condescending, treacherous government to drop us a few breadcrumbs? And when that government comes collecting the paybacks, they are going to collect more than we ever imagined. QUiT TAKING GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS. You surrender a little of our freedom each time. We need to spit in their faces and tell them we don’t need their measly breadcrumbs. It will take hard work and sacrifice but we can turn the tables on them. The less we take from the government, the less they will need to expand bureaucracy and steal more money through taxes. We can starve the politicians out if we would quit complying with unconstitutional mandates, quit acting like a bunch of welfare sponges, and quit blindly believing the government is our savior. photo credit: clipground

I am standing up applauding your post!!! This debt will not be forgiven, it's just passed on to the rest of us taxpayers. Unfortunately, there's no way to downsize the government and it's human nature (to most, anyway) to want free stuff, no matter the long range consequences.

Yes. This is the case with every government handout-always long range consequences.
