And decided to turn it into a separate discussion...
I went grocery shopping the other day and was dismayed at how much everything has risen in cost. And not just the prices but the deceptive cost increases of smaller sizes for the same price. Or increasingly greater price. What used to come in a 250g package now comes in a 220g pack.
Granola bars used to come 6 to a box, now there's only 5, but not only that, but they're smaller than they used to be. I swear, the one I had the other day was close to half the size of what they used to be.
A 450g pack of my favorite cookies used to cost $1.99 (or less on sale). The size of the pack was reduced some time ago to 300g, and the price continued to creep up. When I picked up a pack the other day, I saw they were now priced at $3.99! I quickly put it back.
Four packs of Jello were priced at $5, while 5 packs of No Name gelatin was priced at 5 for $4. Can you guess which ones I bought?
Total bill came to $86.22, and that's with the bakery products being reduced 50% and a $3 coupon on one item. And to add insult to injury, I had trouble with my credit card so ended up using my debit card, which meant I lost out on 860 "points".

The same thing is happening here. Prices are going up and not by a few cents. Packages have shrunk. Trying to grocery shop is a feat unto itself especially if you're trying to stretch your budget.
That's a shame you lost out on your 860 points. I always count on those points toward gas.

I've had my debit card rejected different times, knowing there's money in my account. It irks me! A pound of coffee has been 13ounces for quite a while now, ridiculous. The same size can, less coffee for a higher price.

Remind me how many ounces are supposed to be in a pound...16?
I bet you're old enough to remember when Jello cost 10 cents or less a box, not $1.25
Ridiculous is the word, all right.

@BarBaraPrz We used to get jello, ten for a dollar. Bread, 3 loaves for a dollar! (1970) when I first got married. A gallon of milk, 79cents!

This seems to be everywhere, in all countries. If you find something you are needing and it's affordable, get it, and buy an extra or two if you can.
Supposedly tomatoes are about to get really pricey and in lower supply. California produces many of our tomatoes, and we know they have ha wacked out weather and now are very low on water. This would affect everyone who eats a tomato product--pizza parlors, restaurants, households. Most people are not used to having to scrounge for tomato products, pizza sauce, ketchup, salsa, BBQ sauce, and the list goes on and on.
I am not a crepe hanger; I do believe we may benefit by thinking ahead a bit. We still have access to food; we will have to all get creative.

Yes! The only thing that I despise more than prices creeping up (and sometimes soaring up!) is the deception that companies try to foist on us with selling us less for the same price without being up front about it. It's downright insulting! I'd rather just pay the higher prices for the exact same size and amount that I had bought previously.
