Spend Those Notes Fast

I heard on the news this morning that after September 30, 2022, the Bank of England will be withdrawing legal tender status of £20 and £50 banknotes. Which means that if you have hundreds of them stashed somewhere you have until the end of September to get rid of them. Reminds me of a movie l watched where someone had to spend a couple of millions in a number of days. Suppose you were in that position , how would you spend the money fast?

I would go inside a bank and ask to invest in something, so I spend the money I have and I still have the money to spend later.

@Kandae11 This is usually the case. It happened when Europe switched to the new Euro Currency, we had 5 years to get rid of the old local banknotes.

@LadyDuck. Five years was time enough. I think.

Very good idea. Where the banknotes are concerned , they say some banks will still accept if you deposit them to your account.

I don't know if people in the U.K. stash money instead of banking it, but here in the caribbean many people - mostly the older generation hoard it instead of banking it. Maybe in a suitcase, under a mattress , in a jar etc etc.

@Kandae11 yes loads do it - my mother threw an envelope out that my father had been hoarding money in, we did find it again though. My brother liked flat notes so he pressed them in a book then had to find which book it was

If l had a lot of bank notes to dispose of fast l would probably stock up on lots of non perishable food items.

Anna's idea seems a good one. I would try to buy each of our sons a house.
