Work adjustment trial period is set for mid-September

Mylotter friends, I've just spoken to Danielle at Hattie Larlham on the phone and talked to her about my availability for having a new CBA in September. I've told her what Maggie and Jamie have discussed with me last month during the first CBA meeting about doing inventory at a retail store. She mentioned Marc's in my neighborhood for two weeks with a 9am-1 PM shift. I had no problem going there since I've been there in the past. I told her I could be flexible by moving days I volunteer at the shelter and the zoo (horticulture) around--might have to double up on volunteering twice a week and reschedule my hort days to early September than late September. She's thinking it might take place in mid to late September around 9/19-9/30/22 as soon as she'll talk to Maggie about finalizing the details. The only conflict is the bird conservation project in the early mornings, and if I'll have transportation on those Wednesdays. I'm planning to calling my bus company around 9/12/22 to double-check on the logistics and get back to her, if I'm assigned to bird watch on 9/21 or 9/28. She also told me I would have a new job coach for the next two weeks. So my second CBA meeting would be in early October, the week after I finish and get paid. As soon as I know more details on my work adjustment period location site, I'll let you know in a week or two.

It’s sounds like your volunteering is almost a real job. Do you get paid for it.

Don't I wish Ruby. Nope. I just log in my hours per event or activity. I don't think there's one for this special project since it's outside the zoo.

@RubyHawk Mainly 3-3.5 hours is the max for any event or activity that volunteers sign up for at the zoo. The minimum is one hour.

@KristenH I’m surprised that you work long hours without pay

OK, I would say focus on the job. That is the most important thing right now. You are under no obligation to do the volunteer work, and you don't want to run yourself ragged.

That's what my brother said when he texted me today. So true. I might have to do it in late September and be rescheduled for it later.

I did contact the project leader via email yesterday afternoon and heard back last night. She said it wasn't a problem that I won't be able to join the group in mid-September. She said to rejoin when I'm able to, which would be 9/24 thereabouts. So it's something to look forward to later this month.

I give you credit for volunteering. I loved doing so before covid hit.

Aww Dianne. I hope all my volunteering I've done for a year (starting at my church's kitchen) would pay off this fall season. You can still volunteer now though.
