Last night there was a massive tribute concert in memory of the drummer of Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins, who died earlier this year due to a presumed drug overdose. All sorts of music legends were there including Elton John, Paul McCartney, and members of Queen. Some of the videos I've seen are inspiring, at least one has been heartbreaking, and, well, this one is a combination of both.
The final song performed in the concert was Foo Fighters' song "My Hero". Even if you don't consider yourself a fan, you've probably heard it on the radio somewhere at some point. It was poignant to close with that song since lead singer David Grohl has said that Hawkins was like a life partner and soul mate. (not sexually) What made the performance even more incredible is that Hawkins' 16 year old son, Shane, played drums for that song.
Holy hell. He freaking DOMINATED the drum kit. He played his heart out. You could see and feel the depth of the emotions that he was experiencing. He wanted to honor his father and he 1000% did.
Check out the video. I dare you not to get a tear in your eye.

It looked as though he was taking all of his heartbreak out on the drums.

I am sorry to learn that Taylor Hawkins passed away at such a young age.
