A seven-foot, 10-inch alligator attacked a 77-year-old woman Saturday. As of today, she is still under medical evaluation. In August a woman was killed in an attack in a gated community in Beaufort County South Carolina. A large alligator was found near the body. In Sarasota County, Florida back in July a woman was killed by two alligators near her home. There have been at least five attacks where the people survived. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says that the chance of being seriously attacked is about one in 3.1 million. There are usually about eight unprovoked bites per year. That is just in Florida.

I have noticed that alligators have been seen walking on the streets in the state of Florida.

They don't know its a street. To them, it is just a way to the waterway.

Some people try and feed them; and that's a big mistake. They get more aggressive and wander around populated areas.

Most waterways have signs not to try to feed them.

I’m glad I don’t live near a swamp or waterway larger than a creek.

@marlina I’ve never heard of an alligator being near the creek.
