I am freaking out

We are remodeling the entire master bathroom, which means everything we put in will be brand new. A vanity with a sink is one of these things. I remember when I measured our old vanity it was slightly over 35 inches. Of course, there are no 35-inch vanities. The one I really like is 36 inches. The same one in a smaller size would be 30 inches, which is not big enough. There is no size in between. So, I got the 36-inch one. The contractor had told me 36 inches is okay. But now I am not so sure. For starters he is supposed to put tile on the wall, which means the available space in the alcove will be less. But even if he doesn't put tile on the level of the wall where the vanity will be, if the alcove width is exactly 36 inches then I don't see how the vanity will even go into the space. Logically, a 36-inch object should not be able to fit into a 36-inch space. Plus, if the sink is slightly more than the vanity, which can be the case, then I am even more screwed. I am freaking out here. I am not sure what I am going to do if it doesn't fit. From what it says on the store receipt there are no returns or exchanges on special items. And this may be considered a special item. I don't want to be stuck with a vanity I can't use that cost over $900 and then have to buy another one. I thought about maybe potentially putting it into the basement bathroom in place of the old vanity there but it seems like it won't fit there either.

I would think a 36 inch item would fit into a 36 inch space, but not if you have tile on the wall. You may have to forego that.

I wonder how it will look if part of the wall will not have tile, even though that part of the wall won't be visible. And I wonder if the sink is slightly bigger than the vanity or the same size. The contractor was gonna measure them but doesn't seem like he did.

@lovebuglena Well if it's not visitble, then why worry about it?

@snowy22315 Good question. But I am picturing part of the wall with tile tile and the bottom of it without it and it seems weird to me.

Why don't you call the store and find out for sure?

It will fit, but you won't have any wiggle room.

@kaylachan If the vanity will fit but it will be a tight fit I hope it won't get scratched up in the process.

I sure hope so. I am assuming he won't put the tile in that area.

@RebeccasFarm I guess hubby can help assuming it will be his day off or he starts work later. But depends on when the guy will be ready to put those things in.

Wishful thinking lol. I wonder how the contractor is gonna haul that vanity and sink up to the third floor. And new toilet too. He surely can’t do it alone. And he always works solo.

If the contractor said it will work, then stop worrying about it. Either he can make it work or he can't. Worrying won't help anything.

@lovebuglena Yes, like having fun on myLot. That always takes my mind off worries at home.

Why 36-inch object is mismatched with 36-inch space? I don't get the logic there.

I am not sure I understand what you are asking exactly.

@Nakitakona logically it doesn’t seem like a 36-inch object should fit into the space of the same size. It should be slightly less than 36. I’m wondering now if the vanity is exactly 36 or slightly less but rounded off to 36. Contractor hasn’t tried putting it in yet.

Isn't it "on" the contractor, who said things would work out?

I guess so, however, if it won't fit it is on me to deal with the vanity since I am the one that bought it.
