Even weeds have their beauty

While out taking photos last weekend, I saw this pretty plant. It’s only a weed but it is really attractive.
Today is another lovely day here and later we’ll be having lunch outside with two of Vince’s brothers and a sister-in-law. There is an outdoor setting at our house-sit and we’ll use that. We could go a bit further down the hill but there isn’t really enough room there for five – not to eat a meal there anyway.
We need to feed the sheep and cows a bit later but we’re waiting for Vince’s brother to surface (meaning ‘to get up’). We had a great night last night and polished off a couple of bottles of wine, ending up with a nip of Cointreau. I think that, apart from a nice lunch, we’ll be taking it easy today.

That is an absolutely GORGEOUS plant/weed!!! Do you know what it is, by any chance? (As pretty as it is, it’s probably something like poison ivy or dangerous to pets. )

I can tell you it isn't poison ivy. Poison ivy is a vine and I'm deathly allergic to it.

It's fescue, a fancy grass.

@BarBaraPrz — it’s beautiful. We certainly don’t have fescue of that quality here in America. Even our “bluegrass” is more a slight hint of blue hue than full-blown colorful grass the way this is.

@LadyDuck I was soaking golden sultanas in gin once and having several tablespoonsful each day as it's supposed to stave off arthritis. Unfortunately I can't find golden sultanas any more. Maybe ordinary ones would be nearly as good.

The colour of the weed leaves look beautiful with green, brown and red.

I'm assuming you mean the fescue and not the dandelion-type weed beside it.

Enjoy your lunch. I liked the term surface up. Is that a commonly used one there?
That's a beautiful weed and if it's not harmful to the main plants in the garden, I would let it be there.

I don't suppose 'to surface' is used too often. It mostly is used if someone is a bit late getting out of bed perhaps.

That is very pretty. Looks like something people here would plant.
Hope you have a nice easy day.

One brother stayed three nights but the other couple live about an hour away so they just came out for lunch and to spend a few hours with us.

We had a very nice lunch and were able to bring each other up to date with what we'd been doing.
