I had scooped out the top of the yam that we had bought and planted it And that was a few months ago. The pouring rain did not let it produce the shoot that is normally seen in a few days. I forgot all about it.
This morning I told my maid to plant something else in it but there it was - we saw a shoot. I have now kept it where there is no direct rain. It will be transplanted at a spot later when it stops raining. I hope to get a yam in about a year's time.
Wonders never cease.

I did that with potatoes too but heavy rain destroyed them. Yam has pretty flowers too
