Sleeping In Her Car

United States
September 14, 2022 5:32pm CST
I know a woman that has 2 kids.and sleeping in her car. She can't live with her Mom reasons unknown. When I worked at a fast food restaurant, she would come in after she got off from work. I feel so bad for her. I just text her. I just don't know what I can do to help her. Soon it will be cold. My ? is breaking.

All you can do is be a listening ear. She needs to help herself. No one is going to do it for her.

@popciclecold Thanks Popsicle..but I was blessed to be strong enough to sort it out and find a place always in the end. And ask help when I needed it most for my son.

She can't go on like this forever, and the kids should be in school. I would try to see if she is getting any help from anyone? She has a job so hopefully she is saving for an apartment.

She doesn't have a job, said she get food stamps. She said people let her sleep in their yard.

@popciclecold That's no way to live. The kids need to be in school and have a roof over their heads.

Once a person doesn't have a home address, most state help stops, at least it would if she lived in Missouri. There are shelters she could check into but I don't know how good they are.

The shelters are way away from here.

@DaddyEvil I know. But all the shelters here are 60 miles away. None close to us at all.

@popciclecold A shelter is still better than sleeping in her car. Especially with winter coming.

The situation that you describe is happening far too often. I feel for the woman. Maybe if you have enough coats or can find reasonably priced coats, buy her and the kids extras?

This is sad. She should seek help from a church or the government or the people should help her get home. She cannot live in a car forever.

That is really sad. More and more people here are finding themselves homeless. It's just awful.

If she is working then why can't her kids stay close to her? Why should they sleep in her car?

This is sad. Here, some people sleep in McDonald's. Some open overnight.

That’s so sad. Surely there’s somewhere she can go and take the children
