Just not always for the same person. I have been asking for help with this new heating system I have installed, and for ages no-one has even replied. Now finally the engineer himself promised to come out tomorrow morning and guide me through everything and sort out all my issues. Hallelujah! Then this evening, about 6:30, he suddenly called and said he could come right away if that would work for me. Of course I said yes, and he did come and very patiently explained everything and checked the whole thing over and promised to add the final necessary components ASAP. I was very pleased – but unfortunately the reason he was able to come at such short notice was that earlier this afternoon, his apprentice had sliced the tip off his finger and so they had had to leave the job they were working on to take him to hospital! Ouch, I know that must have hurt like heck. Well, at least it all worked out well for you and now you know how to work your heater.

I'm told the fingertip was glued back on and should heal successfully!

@rebelann Cyanoacrylate glue (superglue) is often used for small surgeries these days! I would worry that perhaps he would lose sensation in that fingertip, but it was just the very tip so perhaps the nerves will grow back and not need to be surgically joined.

I am very sorry for his apprentice, this must hurt badly and it takes a long time to recover.

@Fleura At least it's just the very tip. It is true that a nice lean cut is the best option.

It was just the very tip, so hopefully it won't be too bad. And it certainly was a nice clean cut, which surgeon aquaintances have told me is the best option!

@fleura Fortuitous. I doubt that that’s the word the apprentice used when he de-fingered himself.

Oh wow! That's sort of overkill in a way. but it's good your heater is now going to work - if it isn't already.

Sometimes just getting hold of the right person is the major issue!

I had a friend that lost part of his finger with an electrical saw. Ouch was his word of the day. Glad you got some help finally.

It was just the very tip, and luckily they were able to glue it back on!

Fabulous. That's good to know. I hope the engineer will not charge you a big amount.

Hopefully not, it's all part of the installation procedure really.
