A Woman

A woman is a special being. They hold the vessel(the womb)in which an egg grows to term and is born. They own that. It is theirs. There was a time when women couldn't go to college or have any jobs other than domestic work or teaching. There was a time when women couldn't own property or businesses. There was a time when women couldn't file any kind of legal papers. There was a time when women couldn't travel alone or go out socially unless a man escorted them. There was a time when women couldn't vote or have a political voice. Women still have no control over their own bodies and what happens to them. Still. In the 21st century. The government didn't plant the seed. The government didn't spread her legs and make the woman pregnant. The government didn't have that intimate relationship or, rape the woman. But, the government gets to choose what she is able to do with her own body after this act takes place. It doesn't seem to matter that a woman should have the right of making this very private choice on her own. Instead, it is made into a public situation and others make that choice for her. Others don't even know her or her reasons for making this hard decision. Strangers make this decision. Strangers who seem to feel they are right and a woman has no voice in their own futures. It is as if the government has the right to tell women how to function. How to govern their own existences. It's not right. No matter how someone may feel about life themselves they have no right to push that feeling onto others. It's unjust. It's not right.

I hear you. I even hate having to wear undies in public sometimes. If a guy doesn't have to be bound up to be decent, then should a woman?

@celticeagle When I am getting dressed after my pool exercise, I can easily get into a bad mood. It takes way too much effort to get out of my wet clothes and into undies etc. so that I can go home.

Before a woman is pregnant, she has every right to make decisions about her body. Once she becomes pregnant, she has no right to murder the life growing inside her. It's no longer about just one life.

You have some good ideas. But a woman always has the right to do what she feels is best for herself.

@1creekgirl ....... The woman has to make the decision that is best for her. I'm sure any woman wants a child to come into a good life, not one shrowded by rape, incest, or, the knowledge of a genetic problem of some kind. It is the right of the woman to make that decision. It is a private decision and not one for the government, church, or family to make.

@celticeagle Best for herself is fine when it's only her life that's involved.

"Pro-life" adopted by the Republican party platform has nothing to do about the value of life. It's a political strategy adopted by the GOP to attract conservative Christians to vote for them.

I'm a pro-lifer; but I don't think a woman should get a risky back alley abortion.

Have you heard about women's liberalism? Women now are liberated.
