Yesterday, i got a day off from my shop to take a rest, while my wife helping me at the shop, i have to babysit my daughter. Usually, i spent 1-2 hours with my daughter, but yesterday i got a whole day with her. We did so many thing (sing, dance, listen to her story and ofc a lot of kisses and hugs from her). My daughter turn 4 years old at the end of the year, i am a proud daddy, because her communication skill is improve a lot. FYI, i'm from Indonesia and english is not our first languange and seeing your own daughter speaks English in a good way is amazing. My wife and i were agree to speak Indonesian only to our daughter until she can speak in Indonesian (we did this until she was 2 years old). After that, we gave her full english channel for kids. Now, after almost 2 years watching the kids channel, her english skill is improve very well. New words every day, and i'm still amaze until right now, because she learn that fast. I still remember the first time learning English when i was in Junior High School and compare to her, oh my goodness, everyday i have to help my mom translating my daughter words, because she talk to her grandmother in English (and my mom didnt speak english at all). And i have to remind her to talk in Indonesian to her grandma . Me, myself still learning English until right now by watching American TV Series/Movies with english subs (and this is really help me) and ofc doing mylotting with you guys are really helping me. And after babysit my own daughter yesterday i realize one thing that i should improve my English skill because my daughter needs me to improve her skill too. How about you guys? Do you like learning new language? Have a great weekend fellas

@MrDenata She sounds very smart and no I do not like learning new languages. I live in Israel and the language of the country is Hebrew but so many Israelis like to practice their English. If they practice their English on me then that does not help my Hebrew learning and I tell them that. I tell them to practice on someone else but not me. My Hebrew was improving but then Corona came along and I do not use it that much and it has suffered and need help with it more than ever. I am not good with languages and have never been.

@Hannihar Are you not a native of Israel? I want to learn other languages but lately, I don't get the time to learn and a person with whom I can practice.

@MrDenata That is nice that you like languages and speak 3 languages right now. I am not good with languages. I had to learn Hebrew because it is the language of the country.

English is not our native language still in many places English is spoken. That's interesting that your daughter has learned to speak English. No, I dont know any other foreign language. I had plans to learn Japanese but didn't get time or person to interact.

@sjvg1976 i think the hardest part is reading kanji, like yours if i'm not indian native i dont have any idea how to read yours. Indonesian and spanish same with English you can read the letter without knowing the meaning.

Good job in teaching your daughter. It is important for kids now to learn English at an early age. My coworkers are telling me that their kids does not understand or speak our language. They only speak English even at home. Some say their kids learned English by watching Peppa Pig.

@MrDenata yesterday, a former colleague messaged me asking if we can go out. I said we can go out right away. And she said, no right now because she is tutoring her son to speak Filipino.

@jobelbojel idk, maybe in our country we usually speak at least 2 languages (national and regional), so if you can speak english it means 3 languages. And yes, kids nowdays tend to speak English more often rather than national language or regional. My wife and i really glad that our kid knew how to speak our national language, i have to teach her our regional language but not now i guess. How are you, Bojel?

You can admit it to us, Angel... your daughter is smarter than you are. Years and years ago, in High School, I took French for over four years. I've only used it a little bit so I'm not very good with it anymore. *shrug* Very few people around me speak it so I've gotten no practice.

As well as English I know Japanese, German and Italian as well as some French and Portuguese (learning to surprise the partner) great way to stimulate the brain. It also gives a competitive edge in jobs sometimes.

In Public Schools we use Indonesian except International Class. Now, we have so many International Schools who use English as primary language (but its expensive, public schools are free)

I never learned any language but English, and sometimes struggle with that. Your little girl is fortunate to have you and your wife to help her learn.
