I don't know how often I will be buying eggs. I do know my need for them will shrink in time. I need them for energy at times so I am scewed. It has been about 2 months since I had any on my plate. I have intentions to have scrambled eggs this morning. But goodness how on earth do I allow this purchase to happen in the near future?

@cacay1 Actually, prices have not been raised much here over the past few years. Some products are expensive here.

Where I live, eggs are a lot more expensive although they are cheaper than meat anyway. I eat more eggs at home than chicken, the least expensive animal protein.

@sharon6345 I get tired of chicken after a while. But omelettes are always great and it is a good way of using leftovers.

I was thinking to cut out the chicken for a while so you might be right. It is worth the savings.

I know what you mean. But then, I still try to remember that one egg is still less than $0.40 for a wonderful source of protein for an egg.

@sharon6345 Is there any farmers markets around you? The eggs might be cheaper and would for sure be fresher.

We have cheaper than your place here. They are $1 per dozen. It may be because of the less demand here.

I just buy them. I like them and the price increase is just a part of life, just like the gas price increase.

During these inflationary times there are things that I have refused to put in my cart, and eggs have been one of them. I will pay $1.50 for a dozen, which I still think is too much. But when I went to Ruler the other day they were $1.79 and I refused to buy them. I love my eggs, but I can live without them. I am not paying that.

I did not want to either. My energy was so low they sure did give me energy today. But my friend paid for them because I put them down and walked away. I am going to hunt down sales.

@sharon6345 I would not have allowed my friend to pay the price either. It sends a better message when they can't sell any of them at these prices.

I usually buy mine at a store that has lower prices. Fortunately, I don't need any at the moment. I might, after the quiche I am planning on making this weekend though, actually might make it tomorrow, we will see.

I know they have gone way up in price. My two friends who raise chickens are having a hard time as the chicken feed price has skyrocketed wildly. I am fortunate that I am able to barter for my eggs most of the time, unless the chickens are in a molt period. But when I do pay, I try to think about it per serving. $3.99 is a lot. But figure the cost per serving of protein if you can think of it that way. One egg is still one serving of protein, which is pretty cheap at 34 cents when you think about it. Anyway, it made me feel better to just do cost per serving.
