My lowest utilities bill of the year!

I just received my gas and electric bill for August. It was the lowest one I've had all year.
They are combined billing, and a $2.25 service fee is added to it for the managing of the account. I've always said that that service fee is ridiculous, but I can't do anything about it.
My utilities bill for August was only $22.11!!
The electric portion of the bill was about $4.30. The remainder was for the natural gas.
Even with the hot days that we had, I only ran electric fans, and not the portable air conditioners. I did not find it too miserable.
I do my best to keep my utilities down. In the winter, I will wear more layers while I'm in the house, and try to keep the forced air heating at a respectable level.
For now, I will just bask in the enjoyment of having a $22 bill for the month. I hope that September will be about the same charges, but I have been cooking a little bit more.

We pay every 3 months and I paid $ 180 for gas and electricity, that is not bad as we have two computers running all the day, I cook with gas, we heat the water for our bath and shower with gas. I already know that I will have to sit down when I open the bill in December.

@Treborika No, it is not very expensive, in Italy and France electricity and gas cost more.

I used my fans, but just didn't want to turn on the air con. Thankfully it did not get up to the triple digits fahrenheit temperatures this year for us.

That’s amazing! My “actual” bill stays the same (I have a monthly estimated payment plan, which is good because it allows for budgeting), but what I used last month was quite low, comparatively speaking.

I don't have the option of that here, but I'm glad that I know how to keep it down a little bit

Due to terrible allergies, if I don't run the AC I am just miserable, so I do. I have tried to cut back on what I use....I got a clothes rack last winter and I hang a lot of laundry on it to dry rather than use the dryer all the time. I've heard a lot of neighbors complain their power bills are way up, but mine haven't been bad at all yet. Notice I did say, YET. I am not saying when the big cold hits it won't go up, I know it will.
I do wear a sweater in the house when it's cold, if it's really bad I wear leggings AND pants. It's usually January and February when that happens. I am shopping now for some good black-out curtains for my living room. I have good windows, but the window in there is large, and it will help hold heat in that room to get those.

I just made sure that I kept it down even when it was hot. When it gets colder come on I'm not as comfortable doing that

My electricity bill runs over $100 a month. My water bill because it is divided amongst the units on this building runs anywhere from $30-$40 per month. I would be ELATED to have your bill. As long as it didn’t come with the cost of your rent! Lol

I'm very conscious of turning the lights off when I leave a room, and keeping things manageable that way.

@sickly09 Life is a mix of good and bad. I cannot work any longer, as I have stage 4 cancer, so am fully retired. I'm grateful for what I do have. I try to stay as positive as possible, and try not to dwell on it all the time, though it is part of my life, and I do not deny it's existence. Nor do I use it as an excuse not to feel good about life. I am grateful, and yes..."very lucky" in many ways.

Mine do not combine, but water and trash and sewer are on one bill. I am surprised that mine are not higher. I enjoy the fall and spring when both electric and gas are lower for a little bit.

I wish I could get a 22 dollar bill..! It will never happen though, this whole house is electric. The best I could hope for would be like 109 or something. I don't think I ever had a bill under one hundred dollars.

Our gas is very expensive here. So, if I keep it as warm as most people might in the winter time, mine would be up well over 150.

Our electric bill was over $300. They were catching up after billing us the Budget amount for several months. I'm glad you had such low bills.
