Time to plant my Winter garden. How does your garden grow?

I have the day off today and will probably visit the pool. I keep saying that, but today I will make it happen. It's supposed to reach the 90s F, perhaps our last real heat wave of the Fall. I will also clip my dying corn and green bean plants and replace them with snow pea seeds. Show pea seeds grow well with cooler air and a mix of sunshine and rain. I'll also suggest we plant some snow pea seeds at the preschool. Kids do like growing stuff, and they feel "bigger" when they get to water "their" plants all by themselves. I am hoping that no "obligations" arise on this sunny Saturday. How is your Saturday shaping up?

You obligated me how to teach you how to plant a modern desert California Garden. You like how I spun that back. If you want to know the trick, a tarp with some holes, catches moisture and stops that California sun just enough. I know I a jerk, but someone has to make the horsey smile.

I remember smiling. Why back in '87...

“Things to remember, places to go, pretty maids all in a row.” (Joe Walsh) Nice and calm today. I have to go home the “back way,” because there’s a heavy metal festival AND a football game blocking the regular route home.

Oh man--wish I could be there. You know how I love heavy metal.

@TheHorse — I wouldn’t mind a ton of gold. That’s some heavy metal I could REALLY get into.

@TheHorse Go easy to grow. Just bung it in the ground and forget about it till about July. Doesn’t mind a cold winter but doesn’t like water-logged ground.

When will it be ready for harvest? How cold are your coldest Winter nights there? Perhaps I should grow some garlic too. What do I need?

My son is still getting pumpkins, tomato, cucumber, okra, and zucchini. He's in eastern WA. I'm in central OR and can't get anything to grow at my house with all the trees.

@TheHorse Our areas are so rainy and cold with short summers. We are hoping to get our green house built this spring and try it that way.

Nothing going on here. Our temps will be in the 60s and 50s for the coming week. Fall may have arrived for good.

I'll be bold and predict at least one more day in the 70s, or even 80s.

Yes, I'm in the south but where I am most people here don't eat turnips or the greens.

I slept quite well until it got hot enough outside that my bedroom reached 80F and the heat woke me up. After I turned the A/C on and my room cooled down a bit, I went back to sleep. I woke up again about 5 pm, ate some chicken taquitos for "lunch" and have been playing on myLot since then. (Later tonight I need to start working on a manuscript again. It's taking more work/time than I expected. I didn't charge enough for this one. *shrug*)

I have pumpkins, watermelon and devils lettuce planted. LOL. We're legal so here we can grow up to ten plants of the last one. I don't know if the watermelons are going to make it, and my pumpkins are iffy but that last one seems to be doing it's thing rather well.

Wow you have green fingers. If they grow up well, you can enjoy your garden greens
