Well, there is no camping to speak of just yet. But we do have the camper, as we took delivery on that yesterday, so the journey has definitely begun—with all the learning along the way to go with it that I am sure will present some interesting stories to share.
All said, getting the truck and trailer properly outfitted ran us about $1400. So, not bad, and we did spend a few bucks on some other things, like wheel chocks and what not.
The only hiccup we ran into was dismounting, as somewhere along the line someone either forgot to tell us we would need something to prop the camper up like a cinder block or something, or our brains simply did not register it.
Either way, getting the damn thing off the truck wound up taking us a couple of hours as we went back and forth trying to make it work—we were finally able to get it high enough to get it off, but still had to go back after getting a cinder block at Lowes—so, I wound up having to remount and start the process all over again.
It was a pain in the ass, but we got it done.
The final verdict is that the camper payment will be $385 for 12 years (which we will pay off sooner), plus another $85 per month for the storage unit and another $85 per month for insurance.
So, I would say "so far so good."
Today we plan to run around a bit to get some supplies and tools we will need, some of them based on recommendations from a handy little book we bough on Amazon, Rv's and Campers for Dummies.
We are definitely dummies right now. lol

Congrats on your new purchase! Lots of fun times ahead! And I think it's great that there is a book written to help guide newbies like yourself. I'm sure it's going to be full of useful insights.

@porwest I’ve always like those various “for dummies” books, as I have found them to be useful and easy to read and understand. Yes, I’m one of those dummies that needs books like that.

@moffittjc That's me. Break it down into layman's terms and keep it simple and concise. I still rely on YouTube to learn most things these days.

It seems you're a great camper. That's what you become by watching YouTube on camping. Am I not right?

Where I live is exactly like a campground. We live on a narrow street with a tight drive and trees all around me. It will be a good experience to back into my own driveway. Will be just like pulling into a tight back in campground, so that may be our first experience. Thinking about next weekend.

I bet you become a whiz at camping and will be able to hitch and unhitch the camper in no time. Hope you have lots of wonder times with it and looking forward to hearing about your adventures.

I hope you get the hang of the RV and will be able to use it easily. Hope the book helps.
Unless I am wrong, aside from the for Dummies books didn't they also have something like that but it said the word idiot in the title?

Those books for dummies are great. Good luck. I hope you will be taking the camper on a trial run.
