We Went To The Apple Orchard

I don't live far from a big orchard. It's not just an orchard, though. They have a store inside that's fairly large, and a little restaurant, too. When my oldest daughter moved back here last summer, she said she really missed going to the orchard. So we went last year when she got here. I go there during the summer for hard to find vegetables, and fresh peaches. She is in love with their apple cider donuts. I had to have my usual, a cup of hot apple cider. So did she. They also keep bees, so she got honey, too. We both brought home a jug of cider. There were some of the cutest fall type of decorations there, I wanted some but it's foolish, didn't need them, so I refrained from purchasing any. Fall is my favorite time of year, and my girl's favorite, too. It's down in the 40's tonight. Think I will be enjoying my cider, we will probably go back in a week or two to grab another jug. So good. I only got a few apples for eating, not to cook with. I will get those later on, too. But it was nice, they had every type of pumpkin, gourd, squash, you name it, they had it. They also had one huge pumpkin by the door that weighed over 200#, somehow I don't think anyone will want to cut that one up to cook it! So, we celebrated the beginning of the season, it's so nice to have my girl back here again.

I still have my youngest in Florida. She moved her family down there because she landed a totally wonderful job, now I fear I may never get her to move home. Maybe someday.

I have decorations, so I don't need to buy anymore. They are cheering for some people.

@sjvg1976 Sometimes, a small, so-called foolish little doodad, can truly cheer someone up. You never know. Not every unnecessary purchase is foolish. Some are, and some lift the spirit, which is important, too.

Whoa. That orchard and restaurant sounds so inviting. I love authentic cider. Years ago I had some pear cider in a restaurant. Very tasty.

She wanted to give me some of the donuts she bought, but I refused. If I eat one I will want more, so it's better to just not have any, at least in my case it is!

How fun for you. I always look at decorations and think "Now how can I make that?" and refrain from buying as well. I hope to go to a pick your own orchard this fall.

I admired them, but didn't purchase any. I have some fall decorations, and they are still fine. I hope you get to visit an orchard, too.

@allknowing A person can really tell the difference between a fresh apple and one that's been stored forever. Fresh and crunchy, I love them that way.

The temperature has dropped here too during the night. This orchid with a store inside and a little restaurants seem an interesting place to visit.

It's really neat, lots and lots of fall foods and concoctions, homemade baked goods, every type of pumpkin and squash you could ask for, corn and hay bales and such. Plus, that yummy cider!

I haven't been apple picking or to an apple orchard in quite a few years and we would do it yearly as a family outing. Then the grandkids got bigger, had too many outside activities and we could never seem to find a time convenient for everyone. But it was fun and I can still remember how delicious those apple cider donuts were. I love the Fall and everything that comes with it

@RubyHawk I know fried pies are very popular in the south. The last time I was in Georgia, I had a peach fried pie, or at least half of one, I shared it...very good.

@sathviksouvik There are so, so many varieties of apples. We have green, yellow, red, red and yellow mixed, and on and on. I enjoy a sweet one to just eat plain, but prefer to cook with a tart apple.

They open in June, and close after Christmas, so it's seasonal, but that's ok. We do enjoy stopping there.
