Fun day out today with my nephew

My mother in law and my sister in law watched the baby for me today for a few hours.
While they had the baby I took my nephew (on my husbands side) geocaching/hiking today. He had never gone before. He is autistic and I wasn’t sure what he would think of it.
He didn’t complain even once. He is so calm and sweet. He was an absolutely pleasure to take. I asked him if he thought it was a waste of time or if he thought it was fun and he said fun. I asked if we get nice weather if he would want to go again sometime and he said yes. I was happy to hear that.
I talk a lot and while he will answer questions he doesn’t ask any and doesn’t keep a conversation going. He probably was thinking gosh does this lady ever stop talking.
When we were done on our hike we ate packed lunches we had brought. He had a sandwich he had made of melted cheese, pretzel nuggets and mustard. It was an odd combo but it actually smelled delicious.
On the way home we stopped at a little free library and he chose three books. When we got back in the car I saw what he had chosen and got a little giggle as it was very unexpected. They were what I would describe as older women romance novels. He is 21.
At my sister in laws house there was a stray Siamese kitten on their porch. I jokingly texted my husband and told him I was bringing it home. I told him he needed to sacrifice his allergies to make his wife happy. I got home and he thought I had really brought it home. After that in the mail he handed me new slippers and a new jacket he had bought for me from L.L. Bean. Made me feel a little guilty joking around earlier about keeping me happy. He does make me happy I don’t need the gifts but it was very thoughtful of him.
Photo is of the cute kitten I was trying to talk my husband into letting me have.

The kitty is a dear. And I bet you made your nephew´s day even if he can´t say it.

@marguicha him saying it was fun and that he would do it again is great. It was nice to hear since she doesn’t show excitement. He is very honest so if he didn’t like it when I had asked him if he thought it was fun he would have said no.

That kitten is adorable, and beautiful! Let me know if no one adopts it. I think with a beauty like that though they won't have a problem. That was sweet of your hubby to do.

@snowy22315 I’ll have to talk to my sister in law. I’m worried about stepping on toes if I do that. Winter is coming and it definitely would be nice to find a home for it before it gets any colder out.

@shaggin Please do it. Also, if you post lost cat posters around someone may claim it. It could even have a microchip. Check with the vets. If it is a pure bred which I think it is, I am almost certain it is worth money anyway.

@shaggin It isn',t right. Can you foster it and try to find a home for it? If no one wants it, That picture is so cute if you just posted it zomewhere, someone would take it. Someone would even pay for it I am sure. It looks like a purebred.

@shaggin I appreciate this program, we have almost no stray cats and stray dogs in the streets. The kittens that are captured and neutered are placed in shelters where people can go to adopt them. Anyway we have no kill shelters, those non adopted live in a large farm with a nice park.

I'm glad your nephew is connecting with you... Believe it or not, a lot of men read romance novels.

@Daddyevil I definitely wouldn’t expect that from straight men but that is really nice that they do. Unexpected and sweet I think.

@shaggin When I ran out of things to read that I preferred, I would take anything, even a cereal box.

@DaddyEvil same here. As a kid that’s what I would read while eating cereal. I had to read something I couldn’t just sit there. I’d just read the box over and over.

@allknowing I don’t think they truly all do but many do. My son who is autistic is really talented at playing the guitar. My daughter who has sensory processing disorder and I think likely has autism too is a really good artist and has the best memory. She is so smart it’s baffling to me how bad my memory is yet I produced this genius.

@allknowing in a way he is very young acting but he is an adult. It’s so sad to me the life he lives. I looked at him and thought if he had been born without autism he would be driving and likely in college etc.

@RebeccasFarm he is such a sweet kid. I hope to take him again soon but I don’t know if the weather will cooperate. Right now there’s three sick kids in my house.

@LeaPea2417 thank you. My toes have been giving me a lot of trouble since I was pregnant with my baby. After that 3 1:2 mile hike my toes are still hurting and causing me to limp. I need to go to the doctor I just keep hoping they’ll get better.

@CarolDm it has the cutest face. Big round blue eyes. However when I snapped the photo it shut its eyes halfway so it looks so grumpy I think.
It was a nice time my nephew and I had. I look forward to doing it again. Hopefully once we are all healthy again here we will have another nice day where I could take him and the baby out. I may ask my mother in law if she would like to go next time too
