I have this old woman for a customer. She comes to my shop usually at noon, when the sun is so high the heat would give you headache. She has her cane with her and the slow clicking sound of the cane touching the cemented road would warn me ‘here she comes’. In the past, I attempted to have a friendly chat but she quashed it right from the start. I give her what she needs, half a kilo of chicken feeds, with a smile but that’s it. I’ve been burned before and never again. Yesterday she came to my shop but for a change another customer was there. The male customer made small talk with her and offered her an umbrella. But she said he needed it more because his skin is too ‘burnt’ it’s impossible to recognize him. Ouch. Then I saw this photo above.

I feel like I'm getting grouchier as I get older. But not because I'm a grouchy person, it just seems as if everyone else is getting stupider. Nobody has any common sense any more. But other than that, I'm a very happy and cheerful person! LOL

I'd like a second opinion on that "happy and cheerful" part.

I feel being old does not give us a pass to be rude. We can be polite and honest at the same time, without the rudeness. I hope I am not a grouch one day. Just sayin'. To answer your question, I know many like this.

@hexeduser22 Pretty walks up to me while I'm in line to pay for our groceries and says loudly, "Hey old man! Will you pay for my groceries and take me home with you?" Ofc, I answer "Heck no!" People around us start laughing...

But there's no need to be rude. I stop dealing with grouches. If they can't be polite while they're being honest, I don't need them.

It's the polite ones you should be careful of since they may have something up their sleeve. Devious.

@josie_ I dealt with a lot of people who started out being grouchy before I talked with them for a while. They gentle down nicely when you take the time to talk with them.

I get upset as I am getting older since the entertainment shows do not promote the good side of life. Not to mention that young kids today are offended that entertainers should dress modestly and not looking good dressing in scant clothing in public.
