Powercut in a lift / elevator?

I took the elevator in our apartment complex to the fifth floor and there was a powercut when the lift started moving. The lights went out briefly and the fan and lift stopped. It was eerily silent for a moment and then the emergency back up started. One light came on and there was a recorded voice saying that "Automatic rescue activated". The lift moved slowly to the 1st floor and the doors opened and I got out. Thankfully I'm not claustrophobic and have been stuck in a lift before and knew exactly what was gonna happen. So it was just a patient wait. There wad also an option to activate an intercom.

I know the feeling of feeling trapped inside of an elevator that loses power. It is very scary.

Fortunately, this was a very short time and it wasn't scary.

@pitstop Thank goodness since one fear I have with elevators is when they fall down from a height from a tall building to the ground like in "The Omen" movies.

For some people, that would be very stressful indeed. I'm glad you didn't panic.

It is scary when you are trapped in the elevator. Thankfully I never faced such a situation.
