A Lovely Day for a Walk

While the day started out cool and damp, with light showers, it quickly cleared up and turned comfortable and sunny. After lunch I took full advantage of that, given that this is supposed to be the last really nice day before our first “cold snap” of the season, and went for a walk.
The first stop (the two photos on the left-hand side in the collage) was at Bellarmine University. I was driving by, on my way to the park, and saw the beauty of the trees, and said, “Oh, I have to stop!” So I did, parking in an overflow lot across from the main campus, and took a walk along and on the campus.
After soaking up that beauty, I continued on to one of my favorite places in town, Cherokee Park. I’ve written about this before in other discussions, as it’s one of our landmark parks and was designed by the legendary landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted (who also designed Central Park in New York City). The two photos on the right-hand side were taken there.
While the foliage isn’t in full bloom yet, it’s certainly more visible than it was a week ago. With the weather and the views, it was a lovely day for a walk!

That was one downer about living in Hawaii. If I wanted to see different colors I went to the top of Diamond Head and looked down into that beautiful blue water.

Wow! You've already got more autumn color than we do. Pretty and I had to go to Monett for her doctor appointment yesterday, giving us views of a different direction from home. Everywhere we've gone this week the trees are only starting to lighten toward yellow or not making any changes at all yet. Usually, the middle of October is prime tourist season to see the fall colors.
I keep waiting to see the leaves change color on the trees in our yard. So far, only the walnut trees are doing anything.

You should see the web cam in Mt. Washington, New Hampshire. STUNNING. It’s improving, seemingly hourly here. I haven’t checked any Ozarks cams yet, but there’s a bit of change at one of the Smokies cams (but not the other, go figure) and at Mammoth Cave. In fact, Mammoth Cave looks a little better than Shenandoah (just checked the cams).

What lovely autumn photos. I really miss the change of seasons here in Florida. It was always so nice to see in Latvia before the snow came.

That was always the “downer” about living in Florida. Of course, I got a sunburn New Year’s Eve the first year I lived in Daytona, so I did see some shades of red.

Lovely photos. Our trees are starting to turn nicely. We went out yesterday and it was so nice to go out without a jacket. Today it's raining and has dropped into the 50s. Yuck! Too much like winter.

We are in a two day cold snap today and tomorrow. You have a bit more color than we do, except for our poison ivy is scarlet.

We’re getting the cold-ish snap, too. They’ve issued a frost advisory for the entire region and a light freeze warning for some of the rural areas over the weekend.
