Have You Had Long COVID-19?

There are those who believe that COVID-19 is just like any other flu; and then there are those such as myself that believe there are more sinister, long-term effects from this disease. Some are so affected that they can't get out of bed. Consumer Reports did an extensive article on long-term COVID-19 effects and found that 10-30% of those affected with it have long-lasting fatigue, change in smell or taste, shortness of breath, cough, headache, problems sleeping, cognitive dysfunction, etc. I know of at least three MyLot members and one of my husband's relatives who have had long-term effects after coming down with COVID-19. How about you? Have you had COVID-19? Did you have any long-term effects from this disease? Photo Credit: Pixabay

Both my husband and I had no COVID-19 at all. I hope we will be speared. My niece and her baby girl had it, not long COVID, but she was very sick and she was full vaccinated.

@wolfgirl569 A lot of people don't realize how bad COVID-19 can really be.

A family member was reported to have one before. Automatically, the local health sector considered the rest of the family were infected. But we do not have signigicant symptoms.

I had covid a year ago and I tend to feel more tired thereafter. Thankfully, no other debilitating symptoms. I know of a few whose health has gone south after recovering from Covid.

I had two and a half weeks of COVID, but I do have a lingering nasel drip, so maybe it was a long term effect from COVID, there is no way to know about the actual long term effects of this virus. I also had a long bout with ear infections. I

I had covid in August. For me it was mild. I suspect it has had some effect on Bob, cognitively, but it is hard to say with all the different illnesses and medicines he has had this year. I have a lot of fatigue due to fibromyalgia anyway.

I'm thankful I did not contract the virus. I got vaccinated early on because I know my old self won't be able to overcome it once it attacks me. I hope this will continue .

I remember early on after the pandemic was identified, I told my hubby that I was so afraid of getting it. I told him that I feel uncomfortable going out in public and touching any surface. I felt like I was losing my mind. He heard me out, and put his hands on my shoulders and told me just never ever let your guard down. He told me that he knows how strong willed I can be and that if anyone can prevent themselves from getting covid it would be me. I have never ever gone out without a masking since February of 2020. I have not gone to a shop where I would need to open a door or touch a cart without wearing disposable gloves. I have had both shots and both boosters. Yes, I have hand sanitizer in the car, don't we all? But that is not the most preventative means of safety. Regular hand washing is, as well as physical distancing. I practice both. Part of me is sad that over the course of the past 31 months I have not really 'lived' but then again, I am not kicking up daisies and hopefully there will be time for me to 'live' as I should outside of these 4 walls when it is safe again.

I'm so glad you didn't catch it. I think one day it will mutate to the point where it is just a normal flu...at least we can hope!

Touch wood but we've managed to avoid COVID so far. We're trying to keep it that way.

When I saw my doctor on Thursday, she suggested that I wait until around Thanksgiving to get my flu shot. She says they only really last for about 3 months. This way you are covered for the worst flu months. Just sayin'.

I was not tested when I had symptoms. If you remember, I mentioned here that I had home quarantine when I had those symptoms. Have not felt the symptoms after I was well.

Ever since all this craziness started I have been inside more than out and as far as I know, have not had Covid but I do know that now the weather is getting cooler I should try to get out and walk at least a couple of times during the week.

I'm thankful I haven't had Covid (well, I might have had a mild case, but negative test), but my husband has had long Covid twice. Our kids had it at Christmas (no one knew at the time) and Dale didn't feel well for several months. He had a negative test, but was extremely tired and had brain fog. His doctor did a blood test that confirmed he had Covid in the past. Then in May he caught it again, this time with a positive test. He's better, but still has fatigue and brain fog and sometimes just feels horrible for no apparent reason.
