A busy day again today.

My brother David came round today to do some tidying and clearing up to make room so that when my Mum comes home from hospital she doesn't trip or fall over stuff. I was going to cut up some old cardboard boxes today anyway, wether my brother came round or not, and I told my brother that. So I started off cutting up the boxes near the back door, while David started clearing off Mum's coffee table. Dave got everything off Mum's coffee table except a few things that she really needs like creams and stuff. Also coasters stayed on the coffee table, including the one I bought as a surprise from the Oxfam bookshop on Friday. Mum's change from Friday and the receipt from Rileys also stayed on the coffee table. Dave took to the recycle loads of catalogues and charity letters etc that were on the coffee table. Dave also got the clutter off the settee so that Mum would have enough room to sit. Now all that is on her sofa is a cushion, and just 2 newspapers on the arm. Next Dave tackled the floor infront of the coffee table. There were more catalogues and charity letters there and also old free magazines from a year ago! They all went into the recycle. Also some empty boxes and receipts which also went into the recycle. I continued cutting up boxes. There were quite a few up that corner, including the box the microwave was in and a box an old vacuum cleaner was in and other plain boxes. Dave found quite a few of Mum's handbags under all the rubbish, and he also found a rubbish bin! I dusted up the corner where the boxes had been and then cut up some more boxes! At midday I put the oven on for dinner and I did a battered fish for me and a battered fish and some chips for my step-dad. David didn't want anything. After I'd eaten my fish I had one of my vegan puddings, then I made myself a cup of green tea. I asked Dave if he wanted a drink and he had an ordinary tea with milk and 2 sweeteners. After I'd finished my tea, I continued cutting up boxes. Dave did some hoovering. Eventually Dave had to go home. He'd found Mum's foot rest that I'd bought her and he'd sorted all her newspapers that featured the Queen and put them in a pile. Now it looks a lot neater over there! When Dave had gone home I continued tidying because I was on a roll by then! I took all Mum's shoes from behind her sofa and squirreled them away into the dining room. I managed to clear a path to my organ and then I managed to reach a picture that fell behind my organ ages ago and get it out! I went and put that in the dining room with another picture. A couple of bags that Mum has stuff in were disintegrating so I put the stuff in new bags and put the old bags to go to the Tesco recycle. I found a couple of empty shoe boxes that I haven't cut up yet because I was too tired by then. Some of my stuff has also gone behind my sofa instead of my Mum's so they are out of the way. When I'd finished I made my tea (you might call it dinner, we call it tea on a weekend when we eat at around 5:00pm) I got some monkey nuts out of their shells then cut up some cucumber and green pepper and put some no-duck spring rolls and garlic bread in the oven. Then I collapsed exhausted and ate it then made myself another cup of tea. How was your day?

Your Mum will be happy to find a neat house where she does not risk to fall. You and your brother worked a lot.

Yes, we really have cleared a lot of stuff away. Now Mum can actually see the carpet infront of her settee!

@LadyDuck Oh, yes, there was! It was all piled high! But most of its gone now. See this pile in the picture? Imagine that all up the side of the settee and partly infront of half of it!

You certainly worked hard. Your Mum will be amazed at what you've all done. How is she doing? Nothing much going on here.

Yes, we really did work hard. I was exhausted when I'd finished! My Mum will not recognise the place when she gets back! My brother has been up to see her and he says she's OK. Then need to get the swelling down on her leg.

@sharonelton What’s with all the boxes being cut up? I’m in agony - Covid and Flu vaccinations today and my left arm is very, very sore. I can feel a temperature starting and it’s 03.32 hours.

Just clearing space. We've put our Henry Hoover up the corner where the boxes were now so Mum won't trip over him on the way to the toilet!

Sounds like you made great progress between you! Sometimes the dividing line between treasured possessions and disorganised clutter gets rather blurred. How is your mum?

Wow!! You and David certainly would have made a mark with all that tidying up and decluttering. At least your mother will have less to trip over now.
