Goddess Lakshmi doesn't think widows to be inauspicious

Today is Lakshmi Puja. I just finished reading the 'Ashtatar Satnam' of Goddess Lakshmi which means the Goddess's 108 names. At the end of this religious scripture it's clearly written that whoever recites this pleases both Goddess Lakshmi and her spouse Lord Narayan. So they bless us with health, wealth and peace. In Bengal it's this puja is called as 'Kojagori Lakshmi Puja' and in Odisha it's called as 'Kumar Purnima'. Today all business men in Odisha and most parts of India pray the Goddess Lakshmi for her blessings to prosper in their business. In Bengal most married women perform this puja at home not knowing that their unmarried and widowed family members can participate in the auspicious occasion if they are not thought inauspicious which is just not the truth. Wishing all my mylot friends a healthy, happy and prosperous life.

Are widows not allowed to participate in auspicious occasions in your place? I hate such traditions if they still exist.

In some places in West Bengal they are not allowed which is just a superstition.
