Mind-boggling. That’s all I can say. Every day it seems like more and more colors are flying out on the trees. I had to go to Lowe’s, so I picked the one near McNeely Lake, a local park. After getting my bird seed and stuff I went to the park for a walk. YEAH, BUDDY!!!!!! And it’s only starting in the park. I love the deep crimson leaves (although those don’t show up so well in the pictures) showing a sharp contrast to the array of yellows and oranges. The lake added to the beauty, of course. This morning I started with a heavy hoodie on (the one I got in Sioux Falls, South Dakota last year), but by the time I went for the walk it was warm enough to leave the coat in the car. It’s supposed to rain on Wednesday. But we do need the rain. As for now, I’ll keep walking and looking as often as I can! PHOTO COLLAGE: three of the four were taken at McNeely Lake, with the lower right (the bright red tree) was taken near the restaurant yesterday.

The trees there are getting pretty already. Very nice! Pretty and I had to do some shopping this morning, so we drove around the city looking for trees that had started changing colors. (Still nothing in our year except the walnut trees are yellowing.) It must not be cold enough here yet. There were a few trees that are getting a bit of yellow in their leaves but nothing had started going red or orange yet.

I’ve checked regional webcams and it’s funny how sporadic the change is. There’s nothing showing in terms of change in Corydon, Indiana, about 30 miles from here. Not gonna explain it, just gonna enjoy it.

@FourWalls I used to try to visit Brown County, Indiana every October for a day or two. But then it was just too far to go and didn't work out. I dearly love going to Nashville, IN. Their leaf change is stunning. I plan to go next week for 2 days if nothing goes wrong by then, son is ok, and the world is still here. Time will tell!

I like the picture of the tree the most. The red leaves of the tree are looking it beautiful.

That's so beautiful but you're right about some colours not coming out so well in photos.

That’s the bad thing, such as it is, about the crimson trees. They tend to show brown. Oh, well. I promise you it was gorgeous in person.

@JudyEv — nothing beats the human eye and brain for comprehending and processing the beauty. That’s why I like to go places.

@FourWalls And I believe you. I've had enough photos of my own that are disappointing as regards the colouring.

Stunning pictures. It is amazing how quickly the colors have changed here as well. My favorite time of the year.

Last year I watched the Gatlinburg Sky Bridge cam, and it was like someone poured paint on the trees overnight. That’s how quickly they changed there.

I love the bright colors of fall. Kind of like a last hurrah for the trees until they have to rest for the next time. So pretty!

I so agree. I drive through a row of trees with their colors out, especially if the sun is shining through them, and think, “Is this why people decorate Christmas trees? Trying to hold on to this beauty?”

What a lovely lake, soon the whole background will be red and yellow, surely a beautiful sight. I am waiting to see my Japanese Maple turning red.
