One of my favorite poets is Edna St. Vincent Millay who wrote: “My candle burns at both ends; It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends— It gives a lovely light!” Her work inspires me and makes me think. I like to read that sort of poetry. She was popular during the '20s, a feminist and playwright who died of a heart attack on October 19, 1950. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William W. Purkey was a public school teacher, a professor Emeritus at North Carolina, and a researcher, speaker, writer, and speaker. He wrote about 100 articles and a dozen books on the subjects of counseling and guidance education. He was born on August 22, 1929, and died on August 28, 2020, A famous quote of his goes something like this: “You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching, Love like you'll never be hurt, Sing like there's nobody listening, And live like it's heaven on earth.” I chose these two because they were great in their fields. Poetry you can pick up any time but I also like to read about educators and their thoughts on learning and teaching.

I had never heard of Mr Purkey but certainly heard that quote a gazillion times. I didn't know it was actually accredited to specific person.

Both the poems are so touching and valid. They are so deep and conveyed beautifully in simple language. Thanks for sharing.

I like Walt Whitman, Emily Dickenson...I have a lot of favorite poets. Whitman's Song Of The Open Road is so good. My favorite line, ''Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more.''
